Not sure how many of you know the A38 near Burton. If you're heading towards Derby, you get a junction to turn off into Stretton village - the junction is a hairpin bend after a reasonable braking zone, and so many people get it all wrong.
The latest one happened a short while ago. Someone driving what looked like a Seat Ibiza understeered right into the barrier that runs around the outside of the hairpin. I was on my way into Derby, pulled up when I saw the accident to check if they were okay. The police and recovery vehicles are there now.
The bend is such a deceptive little sod. It's tighter than it looks, and because you're supposed to be coming down from 60-70mph to 15-20, you can think you're going slower than you really are. Seen so many people go off there now thinking they had slowed down enough....first time I went round it at 30mph I could feel the car coming unglued, since then I'm a lot more careful about what speed I take it at!
