On my travels through the Interweb I came across a few pieces of software which can turn ordinary photographs into photomosaics. If you are not sure what I'm on about take a look here (including links to software): http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Photographic_mosaic.
I had a go with the OcUK flag and the stock images that come with one of the programs, and came up with this (shrunk quite a way down from the original):
Playing around with a few images I thought it'd be great if we all put some images together to create a huge one. So here's the plan. Whoever wants to participate, upload some full size images to a host and link them here, and myself and anyone else who wants to can feed them into the software and produce the first OcUK photomosaic! If this takes off I could feed them into a web page where you could click on each of the segments to see the full image. So here are the rules:
The theme is... the OcUK forums today! So post images that relate to OcUK, be it things that remind you of here like avec dino or celing cat, or pictures of youself. I orignally intended to steal all of the photos off the rogues gallery to do this but as its a bit out of date it'd be nice to make it represent the forums today! Of course normal forum rules apply about dodgy images etc and as each picture would be a tiny part of the image things like text are not going to show up very well, and it'd help if the images were wider than taller or I think the software junks or crops them!
So what do you guys think? Good idea. This one is either going to fly or bomb horribly
