The Sunday Times is calling for owners of 100k mile cars

OFF TOPIC

I also randomly get the airbag lights flashing, the only way I've found to stop this is to turn the engine off and on again (hey who knew it worked with cars too) lol

If it is on a post 2002 car then it will be multiplexed and the problem will be a loose stalk (comm2000? i think). Anyway tighten the stalks and it will go away.

Lol, 118k mile Audi is high mileage?

Oddly the article seems to imply you got it at the going rate for a car with that mileage. I thought you said it was much cheaper as you got it from a family member?

Odd. Why didn't you just say you were in it?

It says you're an IT manager but your LinkedIn profile states network administrator. Did they inflate the job title for the article?

I don't keep my linked in up to date, intact I think its pointless. And I didn't say I was in it because I didn't know for sure at that point.

Just seems bizarre that the best high mileage car they could find was one owned for only a year, was barely over 100k and bought because it was offered at mates rates. Surely they had better examples of high mileage stories than that?

I didn't email as I figured they would have had plenty of material. Obviously not :p

I think that for Joe Public, 120k is pretty high mileage.
Jason Dawe found a 520d, a Rav 4 and a Cayenne S as examples of high mileage cars for low prices, and they all had around 120k on them.

Also.

Remind me again, isn't the 2.0TFSI a turbocharged direct injection engine? :p

Turbo charged = Yes

Direct injection = The same as the last time we had this discussion, it shares the FSI branding but isn't the same fuel delivery as an FSI (non T).

The TFSI is direct injection or am I missing something ? The injectors appear to be directly into the cyclinders rather than the intake manifold on mine, it also has a high pressure fuel pump directly on the head being run by a cam follower which is a known weak spot, I changed mine with the timing belt.

If that's the case then I seriously misunderstand the SSP documentation for the engine!

It did get me thinking, I am just going to rip the engine cover off mine to have a closer look. I never paid full attention to where the injectors were the last time I had it off so you could be right.

EDIT the fuel rail and injectors sit underneath the intake manifold and the injectors are to the far right of each intake pipe to the cylinders so it looks direct injection to me but I am no expert. ( I should have taken a picture !)

133k on mine now.. Service and MOT this Wednesday.

I didn't put myself forward as I don't need the publicity.

Reporters camping outside my house. Wife turns to crack. House parties with D-List celebrities I don't like til 7am every day. Scandal about my 3rd cylinder misfiring at the last rolling road I went to. It'd all be too much.
