Why do you think 3080 performance is so bad in Dirt5, even at 4k with RT enabled?
Ok it is ray tracing shadows only but why can`t 3080 do 4k and ray tracing shadows better than Radeon?
Can we think that some games are Radeon optimized and some ( like Control or Minecraft ) are Nvidia optimized? Or we should think that if Radeon wins then that game is Radeon optimized and if Nvidia wins then it is always fair game?

After watching the reviews i noticed that Radeon beats Nvidia almost every time at 1080 and even 1440 but at 4K the performance drops a lot.
That`s a big issue because it can mean that Radeon is limited by the 256 bit bus. There is no reason to not be able to beat the 3080 in 4k, it has better speed and enough memory. But in almost every game, it finishes behind the 3080 at 4k.
If it is a bus bottleneck then why 16gb of memory? That`s the oldest trick in the world, remember those 64bit video cards with more memory than 128 or 256bit cards? The memory is useless because it will never use more than 10 gb. The fps will drop faster than the memory can be filled so you will have to reduce the quality of the rendering and that means less memory required.
Also if it is a bus bottleneck then the 6900xt won`t do much better either. We will see the same insane performance at 1080 and 1440 and the same huge drop at 4k.
This can also be the cause for why RT is not the best feature Radeon can offer.
I really hope it is a problem with the drivers and Radeon will come up with a fix. I expect to see big improvements in the future with the drivers, just like on 5700xt.

As far as I am aware, Control is hardware agnostic and not sponsored by Nvidia.

I just don't get why people do it. None of these companies give a damn about you. If AMD had 80% market share then Lisa would probably put a leather jacket on, strap on a huge unforgiving cucumber and take you dry from behind also.

I am sure that for many, every game where Nvidia is ahead is hardware agnostic. But you can easily find hints that it is made in collaboration with Nvidia.
Well if it really is a bottleneck on Radeon 4k, then there is no doubt that 3080 is the king. That`s 3080TI, assuming it will come with 20gb Vram and it will cost around $1k.

Control might well be ‘hardware agnostic’ but it’s not development agnostic. Control is part of the Nvidia marketing machine, the developers were open about replacing Havoc for PhysX as well as working with Nvidia to get RT working. Nvidia promoted the game heavily for its streaming service as well as buying and providing codes to the game, paid promotions in PC Gamer etc. the list goes on for Control.
And that’s why the game is being spewed all over the OCUK forum - there’s no chance that this game is optimised to run on AMD, in the same way the Batman/Tomb Raider games were not optimised to run back during the midst of the Nvidia hair debacle.
So yes, here we are over 5 years on from Nvidias last attempts to gimp games on AMD cards, we come full circle, the Nvidia marketing team will always be on this forum making sure people know that their latest and greatest tech is Nvidia only because it’s the only way to get people to punt £1,500 on a Palit.

Spot on and whilst I am understanding of general bias, some do tend to get a bit over zealous with it. I am more of a banter guy who loves a wind up but that is my way in life. The usual Nvidia trolls are here doing damage control and trying to find defects in AMD. What a true gamer would be doing is celebrating the fact that we now have real competition at the top end. Why would anyone start crying and defending the top dog Nvidia when the underdog catches up? Only thing I can think of is fanboyism or payed shill. In most cases people are happy that AMD has reached the top in the cpu space since it gives much need choice for consumers but I still see unwavering fanboys trying to knock AMD down in the gpu area.
All I can say to them is just wake up and see the bigger picture for once. Now you can go for a top end gpu that owns everything in rasterization and console ports or go for one that is good at RT/DLSS. You have a choice to buy what you want but please don't troll a competitors thread and try to discourage people from buying their gpu's.
