Congrads that you got one. I'm glad to read that your 1st experience is a positive on.Too many salty nvidia fanboys in this thread.
Managed to get a 6800 yesterday; to finally upgrade from my 780ti. I was considering the 3070 initially, but for a small amount the 16GB of VRAM makes a lot more sense; plus RT is a gimmick at the moment, imo, and without RT it destroys the 3070 and even trades blows with the 3080. First thing on my mind were the drivers. I gotta say, they are so much better than nVidia's. I quite like how easy it is setting up profiles for each game, or getting overlaid metrics, and generally seem so much more feature rich, without the need to run 3rd party apps to tweak the card or fan profiles.
I gotta say I love the card. Performance wise I was expecting it, can play new titles at 1440p Ultra no issues. What I wasn't expecting is how quiet it is and how cool it runs. Gaming with 100% GPU utilisation, my clocks hover around 2200-2250, with VRAM on a steady 1988. Temperature is between 68-71°C with the fans running around 1600RPM. At that level I can barely make it out from the other fans in my setup which are also set to run relatively quiet, as opposed to my 780ti, which was like a jet engine taking off, despite running at >90°C.
So overall; low acoustics, great performance and cool temperatures; for a reference model can't complaint.
