I suspect the issue is less about Trump seeking to address systemic failures in intelligence gathering and rather more to do with him dismissing information that he doesn't like as being "not credible" so he doesn't have to deal with it. Any report that reflects well on Trump or the US will doubtless be deemed completely credible by him without any checking of its veracity.

    Nail on the head.

Trump has consistently demonstrated a willingness to tweet and retweet any unsubstantiated conspiracy theory that feeds his world view, but will hold anything counter to that, even when it comes from the US's own intelligence community, as 'fake news'

Indeed, but it makes any claims of a hoax ring rather hollow when you're the person with the power to reform the organisation you're accusing of being fake, it's a bit like being a CEO and moaning that the HR department isn't doing their job properly when you have the power to do something about that.

They won't listen, Trump isn't leading by example therefore his supporters won't follow CDC guidelines - you must have seen the strops people are throwing for not being allowed in stores etc

Funnily enough, that sounds similar to how i would imagine the Trump organisation to be ran.

What do you mean my casino is bankrupt, it must be your fault!

My University was great, i am the best real estate entrepreneur ever born, everyone should learn what i know, it was all that Sexton guys fault, his idea, i don't even know him.

What do you mean my charity is being investigated for misuse of funds? It's MY charity, i want a portrait of myself and i want it NOW! And the people should be happy about it because i am such a wonderful benevolent employer.

I think he just says any words he can think of in no particular order and sometimes through sheer luck, they manage to form complete coherent sentences. It's just a game of probability.

Another new record for America. 51000 new cases of Covid19 yesterday.
Over 130'000 deaths and nearly 2'800'000 cases in total.

And they're still not doing anything really... Morons.

I'm sure a TDF member will along to translate for him obviously we don't know how 5D chess works (@Murphy ;))

He is in full panic mode with these embers he was talking about with a disappearance shortly after, sadly this virus just refuses to listen to Trump's BS or is it the anti-maskers / anti-vaxers or even the 'I want my guns' folks

Trumps clear dementia and mental decline positively makes Biden look sane and youthful.

Trump flew into a rage every time US intelligence warned him about Russia, so officials gave up briefing him on it, report says

    https://www.businessinsider.com/tru...-russia-so-officials-avoided-2020-7?r=US&IR=T
President Donald Trump was briefed less and less with warnings about Russia's behavior toward the US because he would get angry when presented with intelligence about it, CNN reported on Wednesday.

Early in Trump's presidency, officials learned to limit their verbal briefings on the topic and would often see their written materials ignored, former administration officials told CNN's Jim Sciutto.

"The president has created an environment that dissuades, if not prohibits, the mentioning of any intelligence that isn't favorable to Russia," a former senior national security staffer told CNN.

John Ratcliffe, the director of national intelligence, who started in May, and Robert O'Brien, the national security adviser, denied the accounts.

My biggest fear regarding Trump is that he will duck out of the November election if it looks like he will lose. We will be denied the spectacle of the angry tantrums that would surely follow.
I am of course positing that he will lose the election, I may be completely wrong in my forecast as I'm pretty sure Putin has something up his sleeve to help him. Trump will probably blame those pesky heel spurs for withdrawing....
