If it was really up to the Catholic church child abusers would be hanged. It's just a pity the law and human rights get in the way.

My personal opinions on appropriate punishment aside, God forbid organised religion gets the power to make laws in this country again. The best part of a millennium of scientific repression, bloodthirsty savagery towards foreign nations and social decadence scraped from the hides of a fear-controlled lower caste showed us just how well the church deals with power, thank you very much. I'm still not seeing anything that excuses their covering for active paedophiles, though. That's the point I'm really focusing in on.

There is no excusing it. Doesn't mean all Catholics/Catholic priests are all paedophiles does it. Just like some muslim religous leaders cover up for terrorists, are all muslims terrorists?

This is your logic applied both ways.
