the unofficial samsung galaxy SIII thread: Disappontments:

Only bad thing is the design. If it had a better design people would be jerking off over it, myself included.
But judging from actual footage of the phone, it seems to be darker than the blue that was shown at the event, which would make it somewhat acceptable. Who knows? None of us really, until we hold it in our grubby, geeky little hands.

It's midnight blue - the same colour as the Galaxy Note. Looks much darker in real life.

Exactly ^

Plus, most people have their handsets in cases anyway!

Do they? I've never used a case for my S2 and would hate to do so.

IMO, the most basic principle of a mobile phone is that it should be mobile; ergo build to withstand being carried around and dropped etc. If you have to put some kind of protective covering on it, it would suggest the manufacturer didn't make the phone properly in the first place.

What?

As there have been cases for every mobile since the year dot I guess that means all the companies involved failed hard..

Really, c'mon I mean really

The Galaxy Note looks almost black in almost all conditions, the S3 looks black in darker conditions but outdoors I'd expect it to look very blue.

We shall see. Either way, avoid the white like the plague. :p

As I've said, I've never used a case and wouldn't want to. Don't see the point in buying a phone then making it bigger, heavier and uglier by putting it in a case.

The law states that every product made must be fit for it's purpose therefore mobiles phones must pass a test that show they won't break given reasonable mobile usage.

If I was climbimg mountains or doing a lot of sports I might put one on, but not for everyday use.

My S2 is a year old now there isn't a single scratch on the screen, the only wear is the black paint on the speaker has come off slightly.

I mostly agree with you and I don't use a case either. I may use a leather pouch or something now and again but that depends on whether I'll be taking the phone out of my pocket a lot while out and about. I don't have one currently that will fit the One X anyway.

I understand what you are saying, but people use cases to protect the device from chips and general damage, not to stop it from breaking. Granted these don't guarantee any protection either, so depending on luck, it could all be for nothing unless it's one of those horrendous 'tough' cases that makes your phone a large rubber sponge.

There isn't a phone out there that is guaranteed to survive a drop and not end up with any chips/scuffs. HTC have tried this with the MicroArc Oxidation on the One S and it appears to be just as bad as anything else, if not worse!

If the op is worried about build quality , and survivability get the lumia 800 i dropped it about 6 times from shoulder height , and no damage at all . however , its the luck of the draw

I really can't stand XDA

Most unhelpful place ever!!!!!!!!!!!!! Developers think they are god over there and have die hard fanboys who protect them and their work against any negative remarks. I remember that posts were being deleted about a problem with signal in a ROM thread for the desire (can't remember which one) as the developer and a handful of other people didn't have any problems so was a problem on there end, not a problem with the ROM.........

Could go on and on but will leave it there :p

It's because the majority of devs there are not native English speakers and things get lost in translation resulting in lolkwerk.
