The "what do you think of Pink Floyd?" thread

They bore the life out of me.

Or at least, I thought that ten years ago and now I like bands like Sigur Ros I could probably give them some time, but I refuse to change my opinion on this for some reason. Eh.

I view them as a lesser form of God.

However i don't get all the hype about DSotM, it's great yeah but for me Wish You Were Here is by far a superior album.

As someone who grew up with them, they are up there with my all-time favourites. Like Led Zeppelin, though, I much prefer the stuff that didn't get much radio play, such as the bizarre world of "Animals" or orchestral symphony of "Atom Heart Mother".

"Marmalade. I like marmalade."

All of their albums are just great to crank up on a quality system and relax to with a good beer. :)

When it first came out Mrs Poole used to play it to death and of course our first date was watching Pink Floyd in 74.
I decided to buy her the 30th Anniversary edition in 2004 and after playing it for a week in the car she announced 'What a load of crap that is'.

Maybe I'll feel the same in another 10/20 years, I hope I don't though, I've been listening to DSotM regularly for around 20 years now and I've not grown tired of it yet, apart from classical and operatic pieces (which are timeless imo) I can't think of any other music that has kept me interested over such a long period of time.

They were ruddy good. Gotta agree with all of the wish you were here love. It's by far my favourite of their albums, but they're all quite good tbh.

DSOTM and The Wall are superb albums and although the very early stuff isn't my cup of tea, the rest are great and they also take some serious beating live as well, that's where they really excelled.
