The "what do you think of Pink Floyd?" thread

They have some songs I love (Great Gig In The Sky and Time especially), but I've always found them to be massively overrated.

My parents grew up listening to them and passed on their fantastic taste in music to me :D I love pink floyd!

some seriously, awesome tracks, wish you were here, comfortabley numb, learning to fly, on the turning away. also love the album final cut.
there is genius in their music!
gilmour is god on guitar!|
that is all!

Memories and special moments in my life are related to my strong love of Pink Floyd, my favourite band of all time, even more so than Queen.

I like all their albums but out of the concept ones I particularly like Wish You Were Here and Dark Side Of The Moon. Looking forward to seeing Roger Waters at the O2 this year! :)

I love them. I was lucky enough to see the Pulse tour

Lucky sod :p The best I managed was seeing Roger Waters play at the London Arena, he was however joined by Nick Mason in the second part of the gig to perform Dark Side in its entirety which was absolutely amazing, best gig I have ever been to. :D

As for Pink Floyd in general yeah I am most definitely a fan. Fav tracks are Us and Them, Comfortably Numb, Time, Great Gig in the Sky, Learning to Fly.

I love them. I was lucky enough to see the Pulse tour

Would have killed to see them, don't think that will ever happen now, especially as Rick is no longer with us. The dvd is as close as i'll ever get. I remember sitting through the whole Live 8 thing on telly just waiting for their set, it was pretty magical seeing them all on stage together again.

I don't see why a lot of people don't like the Final Cut. Ok, so it was more of a Rodger Waters album but it is just as epic as the rest and has some great feeling to it. When The Tigers Broke Free is an amazing song, really moving :)

Another vote for Wish You Were Here.

In my younger days, that was the perfect album for a pair of decent headphones and a cigarette of dubious parentage.

Got most of their stuff on vinyl, not that I've listened to it for several years now though.

I particulalry like the albums Atom Heart Mother album and The Final Cut, although I enjoy all of their stuff TBH.

Some of the popular songs like comfortably numb are very good but over all I find them well.....dull.

I view them as a lesser form of God.

However i don't get all the hype about DSotM, it's great yeah but for me Wish You Were Here is by far a superior album.

I used to have the same opinion, but after repeated listening (in concert, live albums, studio), I find more in DSotM, whilst WYWH remains wonderful in parts, but doesn't really grow. Welcome to the Machine is epic, whilst 6-9 have moments, but are generally poor compared to the rest of the album.

Oh, and The Wall is dark and quite simply amazing (and I'm seeing it 3 times this year!)

I love the 'floyd' my fave is the final cut as some of the lyrics are just sublime and moving. I also love 'Animals'. In fact i love most of there stuff.

I absolutely detest their music! I find it very depressing to listen to. Possibly my least favourite band of all time...
