The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt

I've started again as I lost track of what was going on due to being so busy.

But this time, I stuck it on Death March, and my god, WHAT a game now. I'm loving the combat, it's a real challenge. Instead of picking any old talent, I'm now looking at stuff that will really help me survive. I got the buff to slowly restore health (which is pants) and I'll be going down the shield buff route as I'm not the best at avoiding hits.

Anyway, really, really enjoying this now. Only just started playing again though so not even an hour or 2 into the game.

One thing the storage means for me is I can finally keep all the witcher armour and upgrade them all. :D

Super excited for that. Pity New game+ isn't part of it. I do really hope they add it in the future.

Yeah I've started again on death march finding it a lot better aswel few times I have raged at it mainly due to drowners at the beginning

Drowners have to be one of the most annoying groups of mobs in any game ever!!! Thankfully I just cc+burn them all now.

Yea, I left the game in a rage last time. 3 bandits who had taken over a bridge in the starting area. I'm level one. The guy with the bow, so annoying! You HAVE to think strategically which I love (as a souls player). Take out the annoying arse first then get the other 2.

I also fought the bear at the shrine thing for an ability point. TOUGH fight. But fun.

Oh, I lie, I died when taking a hit from a bandit on the old tower ruins, one of his hits takes like half my health.

Either way, REALLY like it on Death March, do NOT see the point of playing this on anything else if I'm honest.

Going to get a few hours sunk in tonight.

My main annoyance is I'm barely able to create poitions and stuff for weapons against mobs, which will be invaluable I feel on Death March. Is it or can I not worry about pots?

Even if the enemies are 10 levels below you they can take off 1/4 - 1/3 of your HP
Potions and oils are very important, and I suggest you scrounge around for recipes from Herbalists, and treasure.

Sadly the game does get easier later on, almost too easy. Sure enemies will wreck you if you take hits, but Death March conditions you to play better so later on you'll be able to take out things even 10 levels above you if you time, dodging, blocking and rolling just right with your other abilities.

Okies, I'll try and focus on potions and oils then.

I think I'll focus on that and quen simply to defend my self from the early mistakes of not dodging or blocking.

I'm trying to learn how to parry as well, opens up enemies to a few extra quick hits which is nice.

I put a lot of points into Ard, Quen and Axii, with a few in the other 2.
Put points into oils and toxicity levels, maxed out fast attack(first 2 levels) and a few in strong attack. With a few in bomb damage.
Bought loads of manuscripts(found a lot) for oils, decoctions, bombs, mutagens, glyphs and runestones.
Went with weapons and armour that had very good stats and the ability to add 2 or 3 runestones/glyphs.
Really good to see they are bringing storage back into the game, could have used that in my first 2 playthroughs.

Parrying only really works for human enemies with one handed weapons.

I found this tough going at first and I am on the next level down from Death March. It does get easier once you learn a bit more about the game and become more familiar with the fighting mechanics. Grapeshot can be very powerful against multiple human enemies if used correctly. I have taken out 3-4 at a time with a single grapeshot.

Thunderbolt is very useful and combined with a sword with special properties as well as an oil - you start to deal a lot more damage. Then just learn to keep out of the way. Also - Quen is not the be all and end all. If you can move well - Igni and Axii can be useful too depending on the enemies. I tend to use whichever sign is best for the time and I have always tried to carry a sword that causing bleeding and/or poisoning.

The bear also took me several attempts. I decided the best course of action was to play peekaboo around a tree :p

One thing I had to condition my brain to was the fact you have to pick your fights. Certain enemies or groups of enemies can be unkillable at the time you first meet them and you have to get used to it. I hate walking away from a fight - but meh - I hate rage quitting from getting battered even more!! :p

No, there will be locations where you can store stuff, as there were in the first Witcher.

I feel like a horrible person, but I hated the combat in the first Witcher, also, I played it when I was HORRIBLY sick so everytime I think about it, I remember how crap I felt haha.

Witcher 2, tried multiple times... Get to the first sort of 'open' area and get frustrated at how open the linear map is with no real sense of direction.

I want to like them!

I started the first Witcher the other day and finding it a real grind. The fighting does suck, don't like games when you have to wait on promps on when to press the button. I'm in Vizima and don't have a clue what the the hell to do. To many quests and no idea what sequence or when to progress. Have not played since Sunday and am struggling to find the will to resume.
Sad, because after really enjoying the latest installment, really wanted to play through the lot.

Just completed the main game, well over 100 hours to get there, and I'm happy with the ending I got as I think it's how things would have worked out for me if it were real as the choices I made were choices I would make.

2 things annoyed me in the game, one being some of the combat like not auto taking out a sword for a fight so you end up using your fists for a few hits and the second being the game teasing me with a potential threesome that didn't happen. That last one should be illegal.

When I played The Witcher I couldn't get into it so ended up not playing it for a while (this was also in Vizima), because of that when I picked it up again I couldn't remember what the hell I was doing in combat which meant it was nigh on impossible to get back into, eventually though I did and as it progressed I found it I enjoyed it quite a lot.

I'm quite tempted to play the first again to see if I would enjoy it and notice a difference with the later ones or if I'd just think it was crap and wonder how I'd managed to enjoy it in the first place.

You might never get into it mind, because while you seem to have enjoyed The Witcher 3, so far I've found it to be a vacuous bimbo of a game.
