The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt

I feel like a horrible person, but I hated the combat in the first Witcher, also, I played it when I was HORRIBLY sick so everytime I think about it, I remember how crap I felt haha.

Witcher 2, tried multiple times... Get to the first sort of 'open' area and get frustrated at how open the linear map is with no real sense of direction.

I want to like them!

For what it's worth, the combat in W3 is much easier than the first game and a lot more accessible (I won't say better because that's personal opinion). The game world is much more open than the second game so you should be happy with that side.

I have tried several times but never liked the first game, I really enjoyed the second despite the linear locations and the third game is one of the best I have played in years.

If you could create your own "Witcher" it might of made it more interesting for me. I just couldn't play as the characterless Geralt any longer.

"Characterless Geralt"

WTF

If anything, the custom player made characters are usually boring blank slates. Playing Geralt is much more fun and relatable with his established history, memories and relationships.

You might never get into it mind, because while you seem to have enjoyed The Witcher 3, so far I've found it to be a vacuous bimbo of a game.

Must be playing a different game to me, how on earth can you describe it as vacuous. The story telling is brilliant and everything you do coincides with that beautifully and decisions genuinely change the story. The game world itself is gorgeous and filled to the brim with stuff???:confused:

I respect that that's your opinion but I certainly do not agree lol!! :p

I'm also inclined to agree that Gerald is characterless lol. The voice acting is so monotone. Whilst his fellow Withcers are not? It's really not fun listening to him spiel on in some 80's action film trailer voice. Again, opinion though.

Anyway, back to Witcher 3 it's self, I discovered you can dissemble items for mats, which made crafting much more accessible... I'm not a smart man.

So, upgraded my Witcher armour, I need level 2 to create a nice new shiny sword that deals a lot more damage. So tomorrow, I'll continue with the main quest. At the moment, I've cleared all the southern area of the starting area of '?'. It's been tough but fun! Really can't believe how much more I'm enjoying the game simply by putting it on Death March.

My main quest is to visit the garrison. I feel this game is going to take me months to complete at this pace lol.

I was not keen on geralt at first (my introduction to the series was W2) but its intentional as he went through extra mutations that none of the others have, and no one else survived, which removed his emotions.

This leaves him very dry on his delivery but I find if you really listen to what he says rather then how he says it then you'll find a lot of character and honestly he's now one of my favorite fictional characters in Amy genre.

I started playing this last night so only a couple of hours into it but, wow, it's a very pretty game!

Enjoying it so far but finding the combat a bit awkward, mainly the key combos for dodging etc. I'm sure it'll become second nature before long. Just out of interest, does anyone use an XB360 controller with this? I've got a wired one sitting in the loft somewhere even though I'm usually all things anti-console :)

XB360 user here, makes a massive difference, just try it you wont go back. I usually use a controller for third person games and driving just feels better :)

Combat is especially tough early on when you have poor armour, weapons and abilities.

Keep going it does get better and the next patch has improvements in it.

Andi.

I'm using the controller too, makes it much easier. Dodging and rolling is essential. I use dodge most of the time but roll out when combat gets a little too out of control. The only times I get hit is when I make a mistake. Really does remind me of DS... My **** ups cost me basically. But if I don't, it's easily doable.

I finished The Evil Within last night so looking for my next game. I really loved The Witcher 2 but 1 wasn't too good. I wish i bought this in the recent Steam sales.

Came back to this for an hour last night after not playing for about 3 weeks. Finally finished the baron story line. I r with sads now :(

Still enjoying it, and didn't want to put it down last night but had to go and cook dinner.

Do you guys generally use sharpening in your graphics options? I was playing thinking - this looks weird since I upgraded to 1.06 (almost cartoony) then I remembered this morning I had set sharpening to full. :p Not sure what I had it on before I ipdated now though!

If you don't mind using a CD key site you can bag the non-steam version of TW3 for £19.99 http://www.cdkeys.com/pc/games/the-witcher-3-wild-hunt-pc-cd-key

I play with everything at absolute max apart from hairworks (don't like the look) and sharpness off.

On my 980ti at 1080p, SOLID 60fps and smooth as butter. Looks absolutely gorgeous. And very busy and clustered in woods which is how it should feel! They really pulled off tree lines in this.

Still with there was no downgrade though :P

This game is a steal at £20

Any idea how would this store for all the stuff work? You come to merchant and sell him from your "storage" ? :)

I would imagine it will be similar to the first Witcher, although I hope it's not. You will only be able to sell what is in your inventory.
