The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt

Hoping the patch comes today!

Likewise!

I'm also very thankful for all the input/ideas guys. I'm very short to temper when it comes to games haha. Secretly, I love this. It really does remind me of Dark Souls, only with a bit more western thrown in. It's focused on making your mistakes punishable by death, so many deaths...

Death March, you hard bro!

Sorry if this has been asked multiple times, which difficulty setting is most likely to be enjoyable? I do not enjoy torturing myself but would not like it too easy?

The difficulty setting one below highest a good option?

Honestly chap, Death March, it's not 'difficult', it's just punishable by death if you make obvious mistakes. Like me raging last night because I jumped into Wraiths attacks that I KNEW were going to happen but wanted to just kill them.

Tonight, I'll take my time, slowly kill them and play smart.

I felt anything below this difficulty really makes the combat dry as it turns into a hack and slash fest. But on DM, you use signs, bombs and actual footing. So the combat has an extra layer or 2 to it.

That's my choice. And I'm by no means a good gamer, took me 90 hours to complete Dark Souls...

Well, I'm super ****ed off.

Doing the quest for the Baron, got to the point where he is carrying the Botchling back. And we get ambushed by Noonwraiths. But yet again, this ****ing game just thinks "I'll make this hard" and throws several of them at you at once. It's a cheap tactic to make combat seem harder, but Dark Souls 2 did the same and it's just cheap.

Getting really annoyed at having to fight off multiple enemies at the same time.

I'm NOT going to lower the difficulty and I am not going to kill the Botchling as I want to see what happens if I try to save it

This fight angered me so much, I spent a couple of hours on it and was also determined not to lower the difficulty. The second group were the worst, the space was fairly restricted by obstacles so I kept getting stuck rolling away and if a few surrounded me I was screwed. I was mainly using Quen, but then I switched to mostly Yrden and got it done.

But what annoyed me most was having to go through the whole bit before the fight every single time! I know you can skip the dialogue but its still a right pain.

Is this game played best with a gamepad ? or is Keyboard and mouse the way to go ? Have not bought it yet but highly considering it at the moment ! GTA V is getting a bit samey now.
My first playthrough was with mouse and keyboard, it's fine. Really nice how you can scroll through your signs instead of bringing up the wheel.

I'm using a controller for my 2nd playthrough though and I think I prefer it more personally. Aside from inventory management, that will always be better with the mouse.

Just started playing this properly and i'd like to check that i'm playing right (never played the previous games). I've just made it to the next "area" after meeting Yennifer and i'm still only level 4 despite having done loads of side quests in the first area. Is that about right? Ive already found a few beasts and camps I cant defeat because they're several levels above me. I've even managed to find a side quest with a suggested level of 33! Am i doing this right or is there something im missing in regards to levelling up?

Thanks

You're doing well. If you haven't yet, up the difficulty to Death March. It's challenging at first and plays like normal past level 10. Otherwise you'll be rushing through the game without any challenge.

Is there nowhere to buy a Steam key for this cheaper than the massive premium Valve are putting on their store?

Just get it on GoG... I normally hiss at the idea of leaving steam. But GoG offer a damn good price and it's not an intrusive client like Origin or Uplay at all. I normally run the game without launching the client and never even notice it.

The only down side, my mates don't know I'm playing the game lol

I mean come on, £6 for a code. INSANE! I normally value game time as £3.50 per hour. And I've certainly made my money back.

I didn't even bother with the GOG client. Once you pay for the game, you have two choices, download with client or download the install files on their own, which is what I did.

Means patching etc is manual. But that just entails downloading the patch file and running it.

Simples.

Aye, and then simply add the game into steam and boom. Job done.
