Anyone up for this yearly analysis ? Surely you must have some feedback to give based on these questions. The answers will be quantified to give an overall view in the quality of X58 Motherboards and the Manufacturers support. If you have had one X58 Mobo and you really happy then you can say why or you can simply answer the questions as you see them ( visa versa ). If you have switched then say why.

The opinions can then be summerised and counts taken on the most popular X58 motherboard and the manufacturer.

The votes will end at the end of January and will be collated then. You are not limited to any x58 motherboards or their manufacturers which are not available on overclockers.

Tbh mate ive only used one x58 board, and its been very reliable (asus p6t deluxe v2) your questionaire would be better sent to a review site, the average pc user on here will tend to pick one board and stick with it, unfortunately we dont have the luxury of testing various x58 boards like review sites, generally ive noticed from my own reading, on various forums and reviews, any x58 board on the market is pretty ok, sure you can spend £200.00+ on the top range boards that offer crossfire/sli support, a few extra sata ports and maybe better chipset cooling, at the end of the day i wouldnt say any one board is better than another, its the features you require from a motherboard and the after sales support.

I agree with setter for the most part, however, there are some boards that are better if you are pushing for high Bclk.

This only really matters for benching though, so for the majority of people 222 Bclk wall isn't going to affect them.

The boards that I know of that dont have this Bclk limit are the eVGA range, Gigabyte X58A UD7, and X58 UD3R (rev 1.6 only), I am unsure as to whether any of the Asus boards have got this Bclk wall, but I am sure there will be some of them that can go beyond 222MHz.

Other than this though, there really isn't much difference between these X58 boards.

Off Topic: Scott, I think I actually know you mate.. did you used to work in Keith like 10 years ago, in a small welding and fabrication shop???

Yeah.. I have my own opinions on the questions I posed. I have done lots of research on the X58 Mobo platform with 90% of all the mobo's out there from different manufacturers. Ofcourse there will be many who have stuck it out hoping for BIOS updates to fix things and save the hassle of sending them back but there are others who just won't put up with the problems and from there you can guage some sort of sense on what the score is in how purchasers of these mobo are delt with based on peoples experience and recommendations. Thats why everyone who comes here, so they can make informed purchasing decisions.

But if so few are able to comment then thats fine. It's a questionnare and not everyone is going to be able to comment if they have no experience of owning an X58 mobo, It's a primium end platform afterall though it's a highly popular one.

We possibly do know each other, and if you are the same Davey who I worked alongside with at the place called Balloch Benchwork with our supervisor/tutor Paul Radkey then I would say that we do lol ( If you are the same Davey then you had blond hair.) And now you are living in the same place I am lol. It's been 13 years since I left that place in Keith.

hah, I knew it was you!! :D

We used to give you some grief back then, dropping roasting hot pieces of mild steel into your boilersuit pockets and stuff!!! :D

It was all in good fun!!

Anyway, regarding X58 boards, the only one I can comment on is the Gigabyte UD5, I've got 2 systems here with that mobo, and they are faultless.

When I first got it, I had some issues like the double booting problem, but at the time these were happening, that was when I was still tweaking my overclock, and I think that this was partly to blame tbh.

However, since updating to F9e BIOS, I've no longer experienced this problem, and my system is perfectly stable @ 4GHz, I also have a 4.2GHz profile, but I need quite a jump in Vcore and Vtt for this to be stable, and it increases my load temps by 10c, so I tend to just use the 4GHz profile for just now.

Do you have an X58 system yourself Scott?

If so, which components have you got in your system?

EX58-UD5 = Great board
P6T SE = Not bad but plagued with DOA problems poor overclocker
P6T Del Palm/V2 = Not a bad board had bugs with multiplyer just dropping for no reason under load.
Asrock Super Computer= UTTER UTTER Cr&p!!!
Intel DX58SO = Nice solid board, not great clocker and only had 4 memory slots.
Supermicro X8SAX = No overclocking features iirc - downtrained DDR3 1333Mhz to 1066 rather than using a divider.

Yep there was some really stupid irresponsible people who worked there and a few who deserved a good kick up the A$$ though we always got on as far as I remember lol :D. ( I didn't put up with any **** from the older ones with half a brain cell lol).

As for owning a complete X58 setup, no I've held off for the past 6 months and made the most of the setups which I do have. Though I do have 6 Gig of DDR3 Ballistix memory, a Ultra Quiet CNPS10X Extreme CPU cooler and a Coolermaster Storm Scout Case which I will using for the I7 System.

I have only owned one X58 and its the Biostar, having owned Gigabyte x48 boards.

Its ran my i7 at 4000 with no problems and i have not even tried to go higher

Its a great price to, so should be up there in the top 3

I've heard a few people on here say that the Biostar is a decent board.

I was just having a look in the Clearance Lines section, and there is one in there for £129..

I have 3 x58 boards, they are all great, it would be better to list the x58 boards that are bad ones because there are so few.
