I recently had a pc repair shop fit a zalman vf900 onto a x1800xt and now the gpu temp reaches 115 on load. I think it could get even hotter but i dont want to push it any further. I'm going to try to reinstall the fan in a few days to see if its installed properly or if its the fan itself thats at fault. I'd like to know if theres anything i should look for and if its easy to reinstall. Also if it could be my exhaust fan thats causing the high temps because the vf900 doesn't blow any air out of the graphic cards exhaust panel. Also they glued one of the fans wires onto the graphics card and i want to know if it will damage it at all.

First thing to do is check that it's installed right, as when I fitted two of them one of them wasn't seated right the first time. There's basically four thumbscrews that you undo if I remember correctly.

Well the temps seemed to be pretty accurate before, max load on stock fan was around 90. Which i think is about normal for a 1800xt. Well atleast its easy to take apart so it does no harm in checking.

deffo bad seating. take the cooler off and reseat it. temps should be loads lower than your currently getting. don;t use the card for any gaming otherwise you risk serious damage.

wither that or they have plugged it into the white socket from the molex rather than the black - i did this and it overheated

White = 5v & Black = 12v :)

take a look!

? Molex? The fan uses a 3 pin conenctor.
Also White is usually sensor, 5v = red...

Definatly bad seating, have you checked if its straight and not leanign to one side, (thumbscrews harder on one side than other)
Also did you use as5, or any other good stuff, or left the standard crap?
You shouldnt be gettting above 50 on load with the vf900
