thermal paste on asus p6t deluxe v2 chipset

i got an Asus P6T deluxe v2 and wandered if id benefit from removing the motherboard coolers (north/southbridge) and adding some of my gelid extreme paste.
if this is considered a good idea, how easy is it to get the chipset heatsinks off?
