Now that both are the same price, which one would you recommend, taking into account noise and cooling performance?

These CPU coolers look pretty heavy with those number of fins, and as i take my PC to LANs, what are the chances of them tearing out the entire socket?

One final question is how good is the thermal interface material thats been pre-applied? Is it good enough just to use straight away or will i have to replace it?

Thanks in advance!

Very low I'd imagine, as far as I'm aware these are no push pin's like the stock cooler and stuff like the Arctic Freezer 7 Pro, they actually have bolts which screw into the motherboard.

It's good, but always best to replace it with something like AS5 / ASMX1, would probably knock a couple of degrees off it.

I think the Thermalright is pretty much the best air cooler money can buy. However it's worth considering that the Noctua comes with a very good fan included in the cost, and the Thermalright doesn't.

Also the few degrees difference between the coolers will probably make no difference to the maximum overclock you can achieve.

Okies ill order the noctua then. My AC7 keeps unclipping, even though i clip it in firmly. I was travelling down from Leeds to Kent and while i was setting up my PC again, the AC7 was bouncing around inside!!

Also would the Noctua U12F, Thermaltake 120 Extreme, and Tuniq Tower all fit in my Lian Li PC7+? And is there a chance any of these won't fit on certain motherboards (like P5B)?

So far no damage...

I have a similar problem. Can't decide on which cooler to go for.

Thermalright 120 Extreme with 2 Yate Loon fans

or

Noctua U12F with extra Nactua Fan

which of the above will give me the best performance with an E6600 housed in a Lian Li PC6077?

Oh yeh... will I be able to attach 2 fans on the Thermalright without modding?

The Thermalright will give you the best performance. Yate Loons generate greater back-pressure than Noctuas so are more suited to heatsinks/radiators. Also the Thermalright is a better sink than the Noctua.

Thanx for that mate, the Thermalright only has one set of fan clips, where can I get more for the other side or is there another way of attaching a fan???

That'd be AC MX-1, different company ;)
