Thermalright Spitfire

Yeh ok, a little odd but not terrible idea if you are going low profile with lack of space, but if you've got other Thermalright cooling (ie TRUE120) your screwed unless you want it pointing downwards!!

It is stupid in every way. If you want something with performance of AC S1, but without the size, then get Thermalright T-Rad2. This cooler is just plain stupid and useless, period.

On other side, the new 58x0 VRM coolers are good thing, going to buy one (i just need to measure which one will fit).

Its not a bad idea if you need to use the slots either side of the card as it is effectively a single slot.
It would also give better cooling than the trad as the air is not being blown back onto the card again. This way it can be exhausted out the side of the case. Its just a very unusual design.

I'm not sure how well it'll do

lol, I've just noticed. Even in the picture they haven't stuck a TRUE120 on like they normally would and have just shown a chip sitting in the socket on its own.
I know they can't because its not possible, but you'd have thought they'd try make it a little less obvious how much space it takes up.

It can be turned 180deg so it is below the card.

Would be interested to see how it performs against the Trad and Accelero S1.

Mmmmh that is true, I was thinking it would block the rest of the PCI ports, but of course it would be too high. I hope its not too high so that it is longer than 6 PCI slots....

neo-omega.

I want one. Now.

Not really... I don't have any space in my pc... got a TRUE in mine, and I know from the images that there is not a snowballs chance in hell that I could fit one of those spitfires and the TRUE. There's almost not enough space for the true alone. Less than 20mm from top of cooler to side of case.

You'd probably have to cut holes in the bottom of your case to get it to fit!

Oh, I forgot to say, but that cooler is not SLi or Crossfire compatible. Sorry.

Those huge sinks from Thermalright for cpu's are case specific afaik, which will have major compatibility issues unless they have some kind of configurable motherboard tray so the heatsink base can always be at the same spot and the mobo can move slightly in any direction so the socket is always perfectly underneath. Sounds like a whole lotta hassel to be honest.

As one of those pictures shows though, one of these sinks with the side on heatsink and one in "normal" mode and you can cool sli/crossfire setups much better than normal.

Its silly, theres always a ridiculous amount of space to the side of gpu's and nothing using it, the problem being making a widely compatible product when it clearly needs some support to hold it in place. But somewhat perfect for a setup with a high big quiet fan in the side panel giving it fresh air.
