S'funny I was thinking the same thing earlier. There are an amazing amount of buildings that go up in smoke just before a developer redevelops them like the hotel up the road or there is a competitor (I'm thinking of you pleasure pier in town) doesn't want redevelopment of the old pier. Total coincidence I'm sure and the boat that reported seen at the end just before the inferno a mere technicality.

Complete coincidence neighbours report the driveway had a small mountain of dirt piled up on it mere days before blocking fire engires from reaching it, hmm.

It was popular in as much as everyone locally had probably been there at one point or another and knew of it rather than it was packed to the rafters every day.

Thats not unusual at all, its actually completely normal. Farmers/land owners sell land. People sell businesses.
Often a lump sum of liquid cash is needed or preferred to a long term income.

I'm sure there was some coverage about it a year or so ago saying it wasn't profitable
Despite being much loved. IE the sort of pub that people will visit, maybe have one drink but not one that gets enough visitors year round to make it viable.

Starting to be a bit of kick back over it but whether anything will really happen who knows - everything looks super suspicious though - looks like they are going to end up forcing the council to take action though so the council doesn't look weak or complicit (or the council will make a lot of noise but just kick it a few weeks down the road and hope everyone has forgotten).
