Firstly I don’t need a Thai bride thanks! ;)

I'm off to Thailand around the end of Jane and was wondering whats good to buy out there (cheap and cool). I aware of the usual clothes and that sort of tat, but any info on prices or best places to buy that sort of thing would be good I guess. The main item I was thinking of buying was a new Digital Camera for pics on holiday, just wondering what sort of savings (if any) are to be had on electronics.

Also me and me mates have just booked a flight and are just going to bum around for a couple of weeks, was just wondering how much spending money I would need? To include 14 night accommodation, beer, and getting around there. Bearing in mind that we want to go to a couple of places while we are there not just stay in one place.

Summarized.... how much do thing cost in Thailand?

IF YOUR GOING TO SAY SOMETHING STUPID DONT BOTHER!

dog is korean afaik.. dont think anyone eats cats..

It's really one of those places where you can either "do the student/traveller thing", i.e. go to the islands via overnight bus/ferry and stay in beach huts etc or you can hit the more expensive hostels and eat in restaurants, it really depends what you want. I loved doing the usual cheesy stuff, Full Moon Party on Koi Phangan, loads of go-go bars in Bangkok, Thai boxing at Lumpini Stadium and Elephant Trails up north. The more touristy you go, the more you'll get fleeced basically.

My old Japanese teacher(he was an Australian that teaches Japanese) Went to Papua New Guinea and they went to some village and had some strange meat that they were never told what it was.
They found out later that the area the village is in is where a lot of tribal cannibals live
So he is unsure if he ate people or not

Not true!

£1 = around 68 baht.

A bowl of red pork (moo dang) and noodles at the road-side is around 20 baht and is delicious. If you want to eat in tourist traps the prices will obviously be much higher.

One real bargain in Thailand is gold. They sell it for the bullion price plus a tiny amount for the labour. Buy only from red-fronted jewellery places and check the baht price on display. At the moment one baht (weight) of gold is around 12000 baht = £200. A nice 2 baht necklace will therefore cost around £400 but a similar necklace (no chav gear here!) would cost more like £600 in the UK.
