So I’m currently planning to create a site for my travel blog and is considering to seek help from this web design company. But before working on the project, what important things should I do? My friends told me to create a vision board and design wishlist. Got any other tips?

Dont think you need a web designer if its just a travel blog. Many off the shelf products around.

Agreed, for just a blog there are plenty of packages you can install or services you can use.

You're not going to gain anything by having a designer do it. In fact there's a 99% chance you're going to get the same package or service with a theme installed and a nice big profit margin on top.
