Think my car is running very rich!

Works out at ~12mpg. Do you drive a car with a V8, V12, or W16 engine? Do you drive like a bat out of hell everywhere?

If the answer to both of those questions is "No" - you have a problem :) ;)

What kind of driving have you been doing? Lots of short trips and numerous cold starts perchance?

Smell of fuel usually gives away a leak, even if it's a minor one..

Still seems pretty low for an ST if it's normal mixed driving. If he's kicking its **** everywhere he goes then maybe not??

You can't really assume halfway on the fuel gauge really means half a tank either. I know the first 'half' a tank on my car is significantly larger than the last half. Use it until nearly empty, fill it up again and use the petrol pump figures and odometer reading to get a realistic mpg value.

Car is indeed a Focus ST, as a member of a owners club, for a standard car with no modifications the mpg seems low, couple other chaps that do shorter journeys than myself get mid 20's.

I don't hoon it everywhere i go, i occasionally enjoy a quick blast but that's usually over in a matter of seconds because i'll be speeding if i don't back off!

If i can find an ST specialist local to me I will take it there asap as something isn't right, i get ~28mpg on long motorway trips (paignton to devizes ~140 miles each way)

Looking at other ST's i should be approacing 35mpg on motorway and ~23-25mpg around town.

It sounds about right to me, not heard of many ST's doing 25mpg around town. Heck I used to get 25mpg around town from my 2.0 NASP Mondeo let alone a Focus ST.

I also own an ST, I get about 19-20mpg round town if im careful. Reset the ECU memory. If you have, make sure you have left it long enough, about 30 mins seems to do it.
