Hello,

Just been told that the exchange has been upgraded in our area.

A quick check on SamKnows shows,

LLU xDSL presence at your exchange

Sky Broadband / Easynet is available in your area
TalkTalk (CPW) should have unbundled your exchange by September 30th 2011

I have check with sky speed check on the web site and now it shows speeds between 9Mb to 16.4Mb's

What does LLU mean ?

Would you recommend changing over to Sky ??

Currenlty with ADSL24 on 7Mb paying £30 month for the Home60 package.

Thanks Ben

Go for it! Talktalk are the only isp in my area that have LLU, otherwise i would have gone with Sky. Been with Sky before and have been great. Cheap as chips and truly unlimited.

Have you got a Sky HD box? If so, remember to connect it via ethernet to the blue port on the router for Sky Anytime+

I have upgraded the the TV as well to the HD Box. Sky coming on Thursday to set it up.

Sky Anytime like BBC iPLayer ??

erm kinda but nope. Normal Anytime is a recommended programs facility, with Anytime+ you can download to your box loads of extra stuff to watch if you've missed it, or older stuff...so a bit like but different!

I used to pay 35 pounds with IDNET, Now pay SKY 12 pounds 50, I now get 23999 meg connection although my upload is 800KB/s I am not going to phone them up, If I do they will put the connection down to 20 MEG its there max they do.BTW thats what my router says, being like that for alots off months now.

Do you know if you can connect it to any router's ethernet port or does it need to be the Sky router?

If you have just ordered you will need the sky phone line as well, and have to use the sky router.

That' is 20 Meg. Sync rate is always higher than the quoted speed which is usually based (loosely) on the max throughput. Like 8meg was actually 8.1meg sync, but your IP profile would never be higher than about 7.5. Similarly your connection will sync at about 24, but your profile will be 20.

New connection is much easier to use the Sky router....
However, I have had no problems with the supplied Sky router, and really fail to understand why some people want to change. Unless you need more advanced features, supplied routers are nearly always pretty good...

Although my profile should be 20 meg it is not, copied from skys web site

Download speed setting

Your connection has been set to a download speed of up to
24.0Mbps .

Upload speed setting

Your connection has been set to an upload speed of up to
0.8Mbps .

And I get max downloads on some sites.
