This Business and Moment...

Sorted things out with dude. His current job distance from home is long and his "spare time" is limited. This, and, I know for a fact his Mrs he lives with is anti Me, and anti-emotuit too. She thinks I'm going to sack him off and leave him with nothing (she's never met me btw, she's just a massive ****), which is precisely the opposite, he has by far the highest % if you factor in the amount of work he does (or doesn't do).
Anyway, he apologised for being a dick and I said that my solution, which I think would be extremely favourable for him, would be to recruit someone to work under him for sweat/ equity, but this would mean that although he won't have to do as much of the heavy lifting he'll still have to switch to strategic/ management and be way more communicative than he has been so far.
I think I could have been really petty on this and gone through what his negotiations in his contract were regarding his time spend working on things, but I didn't.

I have so much to get through now I'm back, I'm supposed to be back out in South Carolina in a few weeks to speak at a conference, which I need to write up as well as book everything. I just don't know how I'm going to do it all at the moment.

Plus side, wife's been busy making cakes for people recently (she has 2 orders this week) and her YouTube page is doing well! (www.youtube.com/c/harpermaes - shameless plug)
Obviously thanks to my work in sorting out her branding etc. because I don't have too many jobs currently ;)

Moving house 1st July, which I just want to be now. I need to get it out the way and setup in the new place, as it stands we get the keys 1st July and 3rd I fly out to Mexico for work, get back 15th and fly out to Portugal. :/

Man that sucks, seems like you're stuck a bit in the middle there. What was the health scare?

@ValiantUK91 what is it you do now and what do you like?

@Phate I'd love to, but would be better spent equity doing stuff like development, no one could really do my stuff anyway. Also, most of this is trying to balance sales/ strategy/ man management/ finances/ my day job (which I've been so bad at recently!) - something has to give (currently my health lol)

Yea I hear you, I'm in the process of trying to essentially bring in people to do all the jobs I am not very good at (many haha) or just don't like as people are better suited, so I can concentrate on the things I am better at. It's a long old process, but I will probably end up just booking hotels and flights in the end :P hahaha

Just booked my flight for South Carolina on 2nd June. Only trip in June, which is good, but I need to present at a conference, so need to write that to start.
Supposed to be in Portugal with the family from 15th - 22nd July but I'm also due to be in Mexico for work, getting back on 15th July, and I'm not planning my flights for that so I'm still waiting on hearing when I arrive before I can book Portugal. Last thing I want to do is **** the wife off even more.

Slowly getting the devops in order internally... slowly. Also slowly starting to get things in order with our new CFO, and now need to get all this paperwork out the way, then get through all these new potential candidates to interview as well and then I need to get back to trying to sell the **** out of this stuff. :/

Good luck guys!

I was bored this morning, so put in a tender for a Surrey County Council Gov. Contract. It was for the creation of an online school for them, courses, staffing, technology platform and support. Put the bid together last night finished it this morning... see what they think :o never done one before so thinking nothing of it really. It's an aside to what my side gig does, but an area I could definitely deliver in, and my bid wasn't a shy one at 1.4m so you know. Would be nice.
Anyway, beat the crap I was supposed to do this morning.

Get them drunk and they're just like any other schmoe out there :p

I experienced the same with out regional manager when I had my first meeting with him. Incredible how he cut straight to the heart of the matter and could turn the conversation in the room on a dime and refocus the group on what's actual important and discarding the irrelevant. I guess I got so used to working for average managers and worthless middle management that it came as a shock working for someone able. But I do like watching guys like that in action. You learn more in a meeting than you would in a year of business school.

Ha I was at a conference recently and ended up at the GSV after party on closing night and the co founder of Global Silicon Valley Investments (big in the industry) comes in, absolutely trashed. Like, ruined. Proceeds to get on the table and do a "speech" and after that was found slumped over a table shoveling five guys cheese burgers into his face like the Hoff. Everyone is human. They've just often had more years to polish their BS spiels! It's all confidence.

I'd stay where you are and try and see if you can get involved in more.

I hope to stay where I am for a year at least, just have to wait and see what happens renewal time (December).

It does sound like some niggles in that contract might be annoying, and if you're not moving because you really hate your place, I'd be inclined to see what counter you get and like Chris said, get involved more on things and keep building that experience. That could easily be a part of your "I'll stay if I get..."
At the end of the day you always have to look out for you. As much as companies can be nice, they have too much going on to care about your careers :)

Things are all go at the moment. A couple of days ago I got confirmation of a new job in Belgium, now I have 3 weeks to try and get relocated!

Nice! That'll be a great move! What's the position? Will be an interesting place to be. Will be interesting to see if you go back after being there or decide to move to another place...

That's ridiculous. Are you telling us the whole story?
He didn't tell you what he was doing with his fingers at the time....

I am hoping this week goes OK at the moment. We've been trying to move for ages and it's been a complete nightmare with losing one house then delays on this new build pushing back our move all the while we've been in boxes at our place. We're supposed to be out this Saturday, but the agent can't confirm (even though it's the date on our contract) that we can have the keys then. He keeps coming up with excuses about stuff but we need to move and need to confirm with the removal company to get it sorted. Oh and my wife goes away thursday, so it'll be me and 3 kids doing it.
Work has been really busy at the main gig too, which has mean my emotuit work has suffered but that can't really be helped at the moment until I'm in this new bloody house. It's all driving me mental.
