This Business and Moment...

Awesome news FF - nothing like doubling your salary in one move!

Jake, I've replied to your email and will do some digging on the people involved. I've had a quick view and know a few engineers that work in that area. My question around hire type is quite important.

I'm attending the internal MSFT readiness conference in Seattle all this week which is great. Loads of different roles involved from all over the world. Satya nadella gave the morning key note which I fangirled over haha!
Looking forward to heading over to Redmond one day this week and seeing the campus... Great networking experience this week too.

Sounds like you're having a great time Blair. Did properly laugh out loud when you described about the fangirling :D I can totally picture it.

In terms of your question, I'm not sure. I'll find out today and let you know :)

Just been contacted about a role for a relatively new startup based in Liverpool Street, salary isn't perfect and I'm lacking some of the skills but no harm in going for it - especially if it means being closer to home!

Oh great... 2 days in to testing and building I've already found a security hole with the hosting and it hasn't been allocated enough ram so there's a risk it will fail updates or kick off customers. 9 days left on this demo and while the speed is much better than VidaHost the level of support and knowledge seems to be on par :(

I really don't want to be managing my own site on Azure as I'd like the comfort of working along side others so I know it's all secure, but so far it's looking like the better option.

Had a meeting with the agency this morning to discuss salary and everything else assuming I get the role. They haven't heard anything, but then again it's barely been 24hrs!

I will be a contractor/consultant for Microsoft employed by their partner. Which is fine by me! From what I can tell the main difference being I get a different set of benefits/package to full time employed Microsoft employees.

The package is very good, fuel card to get discount on fuel purchases, amongst others the end result also being that I'll double my take home pay and can get to work from home full time. Hurrah. :)

Now we wait...fingers crossed!

I'm excited for you, you must be bouncing off the walls waiting to find out :D

I'm ok at the moment. The fact they said "this week" has put me at ease. if they just said "we'll let you know" i'd be constantly thinking...will it be today, tomorrow? FRIDAY?! :p

Although I say I'm ok. Everytime I get an email or my phone goes off I twitch a bit :D

Having to tell the head of technical development that his fix (reinstall) for a software bug doesn't work and that I suspect it's his software that is the problem and not what I am doing :D

This could go one of two ways :D

Well done everyone, I have really enjoyed reading this thread from the start and going on the rollercoaster of ups and downs, I may have my own bit to add very soon :)

I think around stuff like this, it really is a rollercoaster of emotions. I'm up and down daily. You think you're there, you think you're way off... you think you've caught a break, next day you feel bottom again. Job searching is the same, it's so taxing on the emotions. Great place here to vent and people aren't bad either :p

i said this the other day, it's the first place on ocuk where i've really started to connect with people, mainly because you are letting people in to your story. It's not all trying to best each other.
