This hardware on a 500W PSU. Is it a bad move?

Will an OCZ CoreXstream 500w have enough guts to power:

i3 530 @ stock 2.93GHz
8gb (2x4gb) 1333MHz Ripjaws
GTX480 @ stock w' stock cooler
1x HDD
1x Optical drive

Cheers. :)

I can't see why not, If you start adding more graphics cards or overclocking anything in future then change it. I would personally go for a more reputable PSU though like Coolermaster, XFX, Corsair

500W is enough however I do know the 4 series GPU's (or at least the 470) was very power hungry under load and if you overclock that thing I would definetley get something like a Seasonic 600W PSU.

I ask because there is a small chance that I'm getting an HD7950 in a few days, and if I do, my friend would like to buy my GTX480 for his rig. (specs as above but with an HD5770 currently)

The HD7950 would be for my rig running on a 700W PSU if you read my post properly haha :p

What about the same question as before, but with a 500W StealthXstream II? Same story there?

Got those PSU's to choose from already.

His system draws around 280W peak with the 5770 connected. (everything at 100% on stock clocks)

StealthXStream II 500W is worse, at least spec-wise. It's ok for a 5770, but not for a 480. Most likely instability and reboots will occur.

Yes is enough nice build

Really? Would YOU do it? I certainly wouldn't.
