Any point in upgrading it from an A4Tech X7-48 (5UB, you should have heard of it if you're as good at and knowledgeable around CS/:S as you seem :p)?

I personally would, maybe because I am bias and I have an MX518 personally. I purchased mine many years ago and it is still going. - Not used the A4Tech X7-48 myself, however from the feedback and responses on every forum I have visited the Logitech MX518 must be the most recommended mouse ever made.

The price and the quality, the performance and the reliability. The mouse is absolutely fantastic and I am sure there are many people that agree too. :)
