I mentioned in the other wedding car thread about just hiring yourself a car for the big day. Well, a mate of mine did just that and hired an Aston Martin V8 Vantage for 4 days. It cost him £1800, but 4 days with an Aston Vantage? I think it's worth it :D

I managed to grab a few pics, none of the inside as I didn't have the camera when we had a play with it, but it is gorgeous inside with everything either suede, leather or brushed aluminium, and the engine noise sounds like you are forcing an angry tiger down the exhaust :D

Didn't get to play properly as we had all had a couple of beers :( so it was just around the hotel car park. Nice motor, I soooo want one!

Anyway, here's a couple of external shots I grabbed on the way home from the reception:

So, a few hundered quid for a quick trip to the church, or nearly 2k for 4 whole days of fun? I know which I'd choose!

£1800 is actually very cheap for 4 day hire based on other offers I've seen.

What was the insurance excess like? I'm guessing they had an over 25 or over 30 policy?

I didn't ask, but Paul is over 30, so it would have been that sort of policy. I'll try and remember to ask him when he's back exactly what the deal was, and who with.

Actually, the Vantage here is £450 per day for up to 4 days, which works out to £1800 (although tha's not including VAT)

Oh, and he could only do 100 miles a day, I think it was. Then it was a pence per mile charge after that. I can't remember what he said it was though.

Was thinking of doing this when I tie the knot next year, was looking at cheaper Ferrari's for about two days though. Very good prices, a lot cheap than the Aston mind.

It's worth remembering that a lot of places do cheaper hire for weekends, you know, "buy 3 get a day free" sorts of offers, so it may not be too bad to go for the long weekend option.

Yeah its just how soon we'd be going on our honeymoon after.

I think I'd be too young anyway to be covered insurance wise :(
