Those on 02 : What is this "FarEast" thing in my routers settings?

Using a Wireless Box II and have been having a few minor speed issues and connection drops over the past week or so. Had a rummage around in my router settings for the first time in ages and found in the Home>Home Network>Devices the following listing :-

What on earth is FarEast?. :eek:

I only have my main PC and an HP printer connected to the ethernet ports 1 and 2 on the back of the router, nothing is in Ethernet port 3.

Status: inactive would imply that its something that has been connected to port 3 and is still in the ARP cache. Its not an O2 thing

Hmmm.

Well, this afternoon my connection started playing up and I disconnected the yellow cable from Port 1 which goes between the PC network connection port and the router and plugged it into Port 3 to see if it worked from there.

Could that be something to do with it?. I removed it and plugged it back into Port 1 as per usual and then my connection came back online about 30 mins later so it was most probably nothing to do with the router, more likely line/connection probs.

Is your PCs mac address the one shown there?

Is your PC called FarEast?

*EDIT Hang on, I also connected my HP 2575 printer to ethernet port 3 at one point.

That's probably it, the NIC in the print server could well be LiteOn OEM'd

Try telnetting to it and see if you can find anything about flushing the arp cache

If you're unsure about telnetting to it, I wouldnt bother fiddling around in there. Its not doing any harm so I'd just leave it

ARP cache may 'age' that device out of its cache after a while anyway.
