Those power saving adapters on Dragons Den

Are they available yet?

Do you think their safe to use with a PC?

Never seen them in shops,

You can similar plugs from Z-wave which are compatible with the Logitech Harmony RF remotes, so you can put it all in a macro.

Probably makes it more complicated and expensive than you were hoping for though.

I believe the whole Dragons Den deal fell through, as the Patent the inventors claimed to have didn't hold water.. the Dragons didn't care for the product, but the Patent would've been worth megabucks.

From what I recall anyway..

there are making them, they are currently en route to market...but i also think they sold the design to tv manufactures to be built into television sets

It was on the Dragon's Den update show a few weeks ago, they didn't actually have a patent full stop so the Dragon's backed out all together, but the pair somehow managed to get a £200k deal with some manufacturer for the idea.

How long do you think the infra red receiver which powers up the TV from the socket will last? (I mean batteries)

Its gonna be another annoying thing to change batteries of.

Pretty pointless for more modern TV's. My Panny plasma has power saving built in already, uses less than 1W on standby. Its not like the 'old' days where CRT telly's used to use 20-40W in standby.

I think most people wouldnt complain about £1 per year for having the TV on standby. And no need for extra boxes.

Although there are some power strips which shut of all power when the 'master' device is put into standby. Which could be handy for a pre/power 'separates' AV setup.
