Hi,

This is taken from pistonheads forum.

Hi Guys,
I'm Mattius's Dad, some bad news I'm afraid, Matt crashed his Spitfire on the way north, on the A82 just north of Callander on Saturday. Matt is in Stirling Royal Infirmary with compound fractures to his right leg and several other lesser injuries. They operated on his leg for most of last night pinning it all back together again, but he will be going back into theatre tomorrow for some more work to it.
I saw him tonight and whilst still being given blood and drugs etc, is a hundred times better than he was yesterday.

As far as his car is concerned, its a total right off, literally bent in two round a tree, the up side is that because of the combination of roll cage, full harness and importantly side impact bars, his injuries are a lot less than they would have been according to the experts.

It looks like it will be a long haul for him, but he is reasonably cheerful, and already has the nurses eating out of his hand. I will try and keep you updated until he can start responding himself.

I have just been updated by his brother how he is doing, he said...

Just for an update then, he's in Stirling infirmary, still in the high dependancy ward, he's had two bouts of Surgery on his leg and on his left arm and hand, he was due to be moved from the high dep ward today, but it looks like he needs more blood so he's staying put at the moment

So he is getting better, just it could take a while, but should be all fine in time.

For people who don't know what a Spitfire is, this is Mattius's Spitfire.

volospian, Just posting on there right now.

Just to let everyone know, Mattius's brother will be reading this thread so your messages will get to Mattius in hospital. :)

Probably a good chance he was caught out by that nasty rear suspension setup on the Spit.

Get well soon dude :)
