To the audiovisual buffs.

Now that I have largely finished building my new rig, the PC will move from in front of my bed (great for watching stuff to 16ft away in the corner of the room.

SOOo, been having impure thoughts, I giant TV at the end of my bed just for me, to watch series/films on:D

I don't want to spend more than £400 and came across this

Now I am pretty biased towards plasma as I just plain believe they offer better contrast ratio, more fluid motion and viewing ease with SD content compared to LCD.

Just measured, I will have 10ft between me and the TV, is 42'' gonna be ok pixel pitch wise?

Am I being wise or unwise going for 720p? 1080p plasma is out of my price range so would have to be LCD then.

This TV seems to get glowing reviews, though normally I would have gone for panasonic.

Cheers

You might get strange looks from the ladies if they see you have a 42" at the end of the bed :p

Its 'unlikely' you could tell the difference from 10 feet away, I can from 6-7 foot away on my 40" but anything further and I think you would be hard pushed.

But then again, do you have a blu-ray player? Those would benefit from 1080p especially if you do end up moving and taking the TV with you etc as you will be closer and may not want to buy another TV to take advantage.

I'd personally save another £100-150 and you can get some very nice 1080p 42" TV's.

ps3 is in lounge and is my only blu ray

housemate is fairly adamant I should buy a panasonic set.

maybe a 37'' viera for £350?

1080p is £200 more, I want the tv to be really bang for buck orientated

I have this tv and have always wondered whether or not i should have waited for 1080p sets to drop in price. Having said that, i'm very happy with it and from the distance i view it at, i dont think 1080p would really make much difference.
