Three Home Signal - how do I get one?

I know that you can add other mobile numbers, such as friends and family to these so as to benefit from the increased signal level, but presumably they would have to be with '3' also, and not (for example) with Vodafone or O2?

have to be a three customer to connect to the device and authorised by the owner. Only 4 devices can be connected at any one time.

Do these devices use your existing broadband connection to route calls?

Yes, but they barely use any data. An hour on the phone is about 40MB total, daily it uses about 2-3MB (SMSes included in there) and mobile data, well, it's the same as if you just enabled wifi and cut out the middleman!

Got one of these coming free of charge thanks to this thread - had to go on the One plan at the same £15 I am currently paying but with loads more minutes and a new 12 month contract.

Poor signal has been spanking the battery in my phone so this should solve. :)

Just a heads up - I lost mobile signal through these devices a day ago, device was just flashing green the whole time. Called Three and they said a server failure had taken some of the devices off line and they would now need to be reconfigured. Person on phone was very helpful and good and device back up - but it wouldn't have come back by itself!!!

This page has the necessary contact information

My brother just managed to get one of these on his account (I will be switching to Three now as I will be able to use it too). He just signed a 12 month, SIM only contract last week so I think that allowed him to get one for free.

The only people who can give it out are the 'network team', so if you get transferred to them, you're probably well on your way to getting one.

When we called before, he was on a one month SIM only contract and they wouldn't give us one. Therefore, I conclude that you need to be on a 12 month contract at least (I am sure there are exceptions, but that's my experience and other people seem to have experienced this too).

I think it depends on where you mean. I live in the South, my wife is on vodaphone and even when three is a worse signal the internet through three is way better. Went to Cornwall and she had to tether her phone to mine to just get any web. I use Waze and very rarely do I have an issue with connection

This. Three's signal just appears to be far more robust, so at lower signal, it still performs really well.

All networks use the same frequency, signal power system, codecs etc... for 3G so for any given signal level on the same "type" (eg HSPA, HSPA+) all networks will behave the same.

If you get one of these is there anything to stop you taking it from home to work for example ? My signal at home is not great but at work its none existent, can you take this device where ever you go or is it locked to your home IP for example ? I would happily pay the 50 notes if I can use it where ever I go.

Not sure on that one, I think they say not to moving out but you could have work as your main place

Re quality of signal, if I compare with my wife's Vodafone I have put it down to 3 offering the h+ in more areas and likewise better 3g cover.

Three uses 2100MHz for 3G services, whereas other networks also use 900MHz.

its sad but i will moving to 3 in March just so i can get this home box

t-mobile wont give me one :(

looking forward to it! signal in my house is like rocking horse excrement!

I have just sent three an email about having poor signal at my home address, see how i get on.

I think you will get better luck calling them, they tend to respond well if you advise other family members may join or leave and you may consider your contract if it can't be resolved
