Three Home Signal - how do I get one?

If you get one of these is there anything to stop you taking it from home to work for example ? My signal at home is not great but at work its none existent, can you take this device where ever you go or is it locked to your home IP for example ? I would happily pay the 50 notes if I can use it where ever I go.

Really, you're limited to keeping it at home. T&Cs state home use only, and you must inform them of any change of address at all. I believe this is a regulator restriction related to emergency services calls (999/101 etc).

I have moved my box between home and work many many times.

Three uses 2100MHz for 3G services, whereas other networks also use 900MHz.
Unfortunately this is not the case - All networks use 2100 from all masts and some additionally use 900 on some sites. You are guaranteed 2100 and you may sometimes receive 900 from a mast if you're lucky and out of range of the 2100 but not the 900.

You can move the box but you're supposed to re-register as above because in an E999 call the information sent to the service includes the mast ID the caller is attached to as well as some basic location information (which the network registers). This is also used to route you to the right 999 centre IIRC but that might not be an issue in this day and age.

Well they phoned me back and offered me the box, but only if i changed to at least a 12 month sim only package, which i'm not willing to do so no box for me.

But for others all i stated in my email was that i was getting low to no signal indoors.

Imho the 12 month all plan (name?) for 15 a month, unlimited Internet, unlimited Tethering, 5000 texts 2000 minutes is incredible value

One plan and its £15 a month 30day contract not 12month and yes it is incrediably value.
Edit - oh its changed it is indeed 12month for £15, one month is now £18 when did that go up. Still great value and I would still go one month over 12.

:
I already get unlimited txts, unlimited data and 300 minutes which i dont use, for £12 a month.

Is it un limited and No tethering though. I'm on "unlimited" although its not actually unlimited on virgin although i am allowed to tether. For £12.70 i think it is. The three deal is still far better. True unlimited and tethering.

Does all you can eat data come with any limits? The limit is how much your device can consume – if you were to actively use data or the Internet on your phone every second, of every day, in every month (and we would be worried if you were !!!!) you would, subject to the current traffic management requirements (which vary from time to time), use up to 1000GB per month. So in essence there is a limit of how much data you can actually consume which is up to 1000GB. All this means that you can have absolute peace of mind and enjoy all the internet you need on your smartphone, without worrying.

For 2.30 difference the two deals Are not comparable. The three deal is a 25 pound deal discounted so could be withdrawn at any time

I think I'm going to finally ask for one of these. I held off as I have heard stories from people who were told they'd need a 24month contract to get one for free. If you was on a 12month contract it would cost you upwards of £100. It's good to know they're offering them for free on the £15pm The One Plan.

got one of these today, joined 3 on 12th March on the one plan sim only deal (12 months @ £20 per month)

rang up 3 last weekend complaining about no reception at home, they kept my line under observation for 24 hours then they called me 48 hours later, did some live tests whilst on the phone to make sure the local mast was working ok and in the end they offered me the home signal box for free

just turned it on and wow full bars :)

to be fair, my house is like a void, all networks struggle here, outside is fine

top marks for 3 providing one for free, T-Mobile wouldn't even offer me one even @ £100!

so have no fear, call them, tell them you get 0 to 1 bar in the home, a lot of drop calls and they will offer you one
