Throwing money in a dangerous area wont make a difference..

In all seriousness though, when will this ****ing police helicopter just STFU!

Now I know what those guys living under the Heathrow approach feel like, but only 15x worse because this thing just hovers there.

Anyone who knows Stratford or some of the kind of people that live there know full well that this dazzling new shopping centre will be just as scummy and crime ridden as the old one was within 2 years of the end of the Olympics.

The old one that used to be there is the only shopping centre I've ever seen with a full-on scummy street market actually pitched up within the foyer of it.

It's an area utterly ridden with a deeply ingrained criminal element and the problem won't go away with all the money in the world thrown at it.

The problem could go away if all the political apologists shut the hell up and some decent old fashioned discipline was enforced on the criminals that infest the area, but this won't happen any time soon.

I fully expect the area to slide further into utter dereliction.

Damned if they do, damned if they don't.

Don't spend money renovating/rejuvenating an area in dire need of it - get accused of neglect.

Do spend money renovating/rejuvenating an area in dire need of it - get accused of wasting cash.

Tbh, Stratford is miles better than it was before the Olympic funds built the place up. There's only so much anyone can do whilst the population still has free will and freedom to do as they please, but the new transport links are excellent. They new station and roads are excellent. The local amenities have had a huge improvement. More shops. More housing. More offices and other commercial property. The local economy in Stratford will improve massively in the coming years.

It's a good thing they have done some work in Stratford. It needed doing.

White City where the first London Westfield is located is hardly a beacon of light either, but that said it hasn't fallen into ruins either.

The criminal element is not going to go away, but the redevelopment means you have more affluent people moving into the area who will spend money in shops and on local amenities. That leads to giving people jobs in the local area, so it will help regenerate Stratford. Those who are scum though aren't going to change.
