Thunder storms?

Same here. Keeps interrupting the F1  :)

Its obvious who is going to win, Shumi has extra revs if he needs them.

Im hoping Alonso doesn't slip down too far

Update:: Just had a flash, rumble was 5 seconds afterwards, how far away is that? is it a mile for every second gap ?

No. Though I've heard other people say that, wonder where it started.. Anyway, sound travels at around 330m/s. So 3 seconds per km ish (ignoring Pythagoras).

edit: I should probably say that "around" is based on a fairly chilly temperature :) As the temp goes up, so does the speed (though not by much. 30 degrees is around 350m/s).

Second flash and there was a 4 second delay

This is what i found on google

[size=-1]Light travels at approximately 186,000 miles per second while sound travels at approximately 1100 ft. per second.

Considering the time it takes the light to reach you being negligible (because of such a high speed of light), when you see the lightning flash start counting at a per second rate then when the thunder is heard multiply your count by 1100 and this will give an approximation of the distance in feet from you to the lightning.

So the lightning is 4400 feet away

Is anyones Internet playing up? My line keeps losing sync.
I'm on Max and every time we have a thunderstorm, my connection drops due to the marginal SNR :(

It usually happens in the evenings when my SNR is at it's lowest - only around 6 dB.

Not had any thunderstorms yet but the sky is as black as the ace of spades so one is probably going to happen at some point this evening

Well that was THE worst storm I've ever seen over here in Manchester. must have been a good few inches of rain in the first half an hour, was immense  .

GET IN!!! just started raining here, Houghton-le-Spring Nr Washington/Sunderland. :D

I hope its a storm.
Dry and hot as a nun's crutch here. :(

Good show

Love thunderstorms and that was the biggest we have had here in Manchester for quite some time. Lasted over an hour with lightening every few seconds, thunder right overhead setting off car and house alarms :D Sky went out for an hour and even my NTL internet cut off for about 10 mins at one point!

Now its hot and sticky though :(

Just done an afternoon gig in Burslem, Stoke On Trent and the thunder was that loud it scared us over the 4000 watt PA system. The power also went off twice.
I ran out in the rain for a count of 3 and got totally drenched - it was great and reminded me when I lived in Nigeria. When it rained we would all be outside in it with shampoo because it was real water and not the sewer water we normally bathed in.

Been thundering and lighteneneneneneing for the past 2 hours now (Huddersfield).

Seems bizarre a few hours ago I was layed out in the garden, getting sunburnt (as I've now realised :( ) :D

quite a few in leeds here - just had 5 very loud bangs and every car alarm in the street went off :p - they must have been very close, but its moving away now.
