Robert Mugabe has denied there is a cholera outbreak in Zimbabwe, despite the UN saying hundreds of people have died of the disease.

In a televised speech to the nation, the president said that cholera no longer existed in the country. "I am happy to say our doctors have been assisted by others and WHO (the World Health Organisation)... so now that there is no cholera," he said.

Mugabe also hit back at calls from Gordon Brown and George Bush for him to step down.

"Because of cholera, Mr Brown wants a military intervention," he said.
"Bush wants military intervention because of cholera."
"There is no cause for war any more," Mugabe continued.
"The cholera cause doesn't exist any more."

What is this idiot on, someone give me a gun and Ill go and shoot him myself!

Joke as you like, Its hard not to sound harsh when talking about the Zimbabwean people, but they believe pretty much everything they are told. For example, in state controlled radio, they were told that Morgan Tsvangirai was on a visit to Britain to help dress the corpses of dead British people. In actual fact, he was being beaten by Mugabe thugs. However, this is the level of intelligence one can expect there now.

It's Comical Ali, or more formally, Mohammed Saeed al-Sahhaf. He played the part of "Information Minister" in Saddam's regime, and was made famous when he held a rooftop press conference during the 2003 invasion of Iraq boasting that US troops hadn't entered Baghdad, and were trapped and under siege at Saddam International Airport, when infact, you could actually see US tanks and infantrymen patrolling in the background just a few hundered yards away.

Well that's what i was getting at in the first post, that i didnt understand it... but it was retorted with rolleyes so :/

Then i don't get the joke.

The Funktopus has said who it is in the picture, Comical Ali as the Iraqi Information Minister who couldn't be trusted to tell the truth. If he'd be held in chains by the US in front of the assembled Iraqi people he'd probably still have been protesting "everything is fine, we have the US scared now, they will run away". Comparison is being made to Mugabe since he is quite clearly denying the obvious also.
