The corportations don't pay anyone anything for a clean cut image, anyone that thinks that is deluded. Do they go around finding man of the year, a fireman who saved 300 kids from death while risking his life and putting them on ad's?
No, they pay WINNERS, who are in the public eye WINNING things to promote their products so their products are associated with WINNING. Theres nothing else to do with corporate sponsorship, considering he's won everything and continues to be incredibly good at golf, he's forfilling his job. 99.99999999999% of men who buy Gilette products are thinking more "nice one son" than, omg, i'm not going to buy Gilette because Wood's bangs hot women a lot.
But as per usual corporations always move to distance themselves from any bad PR at all, so hide them for a little while and when it cools down, back they go. Slightly different if they do retire and aren't winning things but then when was the last time George Foreman won something.
Fact is I don't care who he bangs, his wife might beat him for all we know so he hates her, doesn't divorce her for the kids sake as he's off round the world most of the year anyway, and has some fun which everyone is entitled to in life. She might be a raving looney who makes his life hell, or she might be the nicest person on earth and he was a git. But people can be gits, thats life. Lots of the story's, especially the pornstar ones afaik, are people he slept with before he was married.
Some of the stories are clearly completely bogus, 15 hookers a night from a madam who lists a bunch of famous stupidly rich people as hookers, and this story never leaked before now?
Did Beckham actually get such a backlash when his affair was made public? I can't really remember it being that bad, but peoples idea of Wood's is one of a smarter, more inteligent nice guy so might appear a bigger let down.
