Time to de-dust the 8800GTX ?

I know its slightly obscured by HDDs at one end (Akasa 62 case)

but I'm currently at 79C idle ?!!

sounds a bit high to me even for a GTX ? (stock clocks too)

All air-inlets on PCs have filters - but dust still seems to get in somehow

cheers guys - just took the card out completely

used compressed air on both the main fan assembly, and the vents towards the back, and then cleaned all of tha fan blades

idle now is .... 60C

a lot better !! cheers

about 82C under load (ATI Tool) still though - but these do get hot I suppose

Highest mine gets to is 86C under load, slighty clocked though when gaming at 1920x1200. It never got that high in my Antec 900, think my Lian Li is just too big

ps anyone else on here with a 8800GTX (there has been a thread about this before) - get a stray yellow pixel (but not detected as a proper artefact as such in ATI Tool ?) - I started getting one about 4-5 months back (but card totally stable) - now I've 4 ! - always in the same place

if I switch ATI Tool to "old compatible scanning method" - they disappear

I don't get any stray yellow pixels. My 8800gtx crashes when it gets to about 85 degrees, but after i bought a new cooler it idles at around 55 (the original cooler was much hotter, even with fan on 100%)

do yourself a favour if you trerish your 8800gtx,buy a thermalright hr03+ with a good 92mm fan,mine idles at 48-50 & 58-60 loaded,brillient card which can still outrun some not all of the latest

Maybe it is your monitor which has the stuck pixels. Graphics card errors tend to be random.
