Tipping Local Services

Binmen-not a chance, our bins get emptied it seems at random and they then refuse to take a few extra bin bags sitting at the side of the bin even though they havent bothered coming round for 3 weeks no chance
milkman-dont have one same with paperboy and windowcleaner
delivery driver from the local indian we use regularly will get a healthy xmas tip on top if his regular tip. always prompt always cheery and generally a standup service
postman, erm no lucky if we get mail twice a week

Always tip food delivery drivers and tipped the chaps who valeted my car last week but never considered the postman or binmen. Im never really about to give them said tip.

I work in local services and know the binmen can make between 1-2.5K in tips plus a staggering amount in cans of beer.....I am not exagerating either.

I dont agree with it. They are getting a wage. Public service workmen should take no money off the public in works time.

Never tipped any of the local services but after living in a small village and seeing how the local postie has coped in 2ft of snow i think she'll be getting a tip this year.

Postman & Milkman usually get a Christmas Tip :).

Think they both will be this year - in the previous snow when "it was unsafe for the bins to be collected" our milk & mail arrived just as normal every day.

In the snow last year there were a few days that our road was genuinely unpassable for anything.... yet the milk turned up as normal every day! Think he must have carried it.

Pretty sure it is not allowed as well. I know it isn't allowed to take freebies from reps in the places I have worked. Although who is going to really say no to free cups and pens!

I dont tip any of them. Why should I? I dont get tipped by all the people who use aircraft to go abroad on that I make parts for daily. Think of the stress levels in the country if you couldnt get out of the UK now and then :D

They get paid a wage that is appropriate for the job and it is their choice they are doing that particular job. I also have no 'regular' postman so it wouldnt be a fair tip if I were to tip anyway.

I have been working away all year helping to keep our NHS up and running. You can email me (in trust) for bank details. I was thinking £20-30 would be a nice way for you to show your appreciation of me.

We used to tip our postie untill he won the lottery and retired :(

Now its a different guy every few weeks and they are all useless. I might tip the DPD guy if he turns up he just lives up the road and is always good.

We give them 8 cans of magners and box of chocs each

They do us a service and get paid poorly

Postie get a tenner and box of chocs as well.. Milkman well he's in supermarket

We gave the bin men £10 this year because for us, they do there job very well. Always take the rubbish even when we put out extra bags, and they don't make a noise when they come round (around 6am).
The postman is awful so he won't get a tip.
