I just got upgraded to 8mb and seem to have lost my connection.

It seems to connect for about 30 seconds then losses connection. Have filters in place.

I know that most upgrades take a time to settle the line(Not sure if thats true) but I would have thought that I would at least get some connection for longer that half a minute.

I use a touchspeed 330 modem and never had any problems in the past always had good connection rates and ping.

Any advice?

I might be wrong here, as I don't know much about this... but i thought 8mb ADSL is through the ADSLmax circuit which utilises new technology?

A speedtouch 330 modem is an old adsl modem, and might not support this rate of transfer or the ADSLmax technology?

Did tiscali supply you with this modem and have said it will work for this speed?

I with Tiscali depends on if your exchange has been LLU'd by them as to if it is a BT Max line or a full Tiscali line.

If it is a BT Max circuit then there is a 10 day SLM period where the line works out the fastest speed it can support. Tiscali can still raise a fault during this period though.

If it is a Tiscali LLU line then ask them to change your line profile down to 2Mb again (they can do this with you on the phone) and check that you are able to connect if you are then get them to increase the profile to something like 4Mb and again check if your connection works. They should be able to do this all while you are still on the phone as they can change the line profile and only takes about 30 seconds to be done.

I would suggest trying a different modem/router first if you can just to rule out any issue with the Speedtouch.

Seems to be the 10 day period thing like you say. As its beginning to become more stable.

Its been on about 10-15minutes now. And the line speed keeps changing from about 6.5mb to around 7mb.

So hopefully by the end of the weekend I can use as normal.

Thanks for you help guys.
