Hi, i ordered the titan goliath with the said grfx card last sunday. It hasnt come yet. Theyve told me most likely next week, i assume its because the gtx285 is out of stock.

So ive been looking through this forum and its given me a few thoughts. I was thinking of ringing them and changing the card. Now what are your thoughts of 2 of these instead of the gtx 285:

http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GX-101-PC&groupid=701&catid=56&subcat=1403

this would cost me an extra £24. I'm totally aware of the new grfx cards coming but i dont want to wait.. new things will always be coming out. now ivev heard dual grfx increase heat etc etc but dont know too much. what are your thoughts on this idea?

im also open to any other suggestions!!

thanks in advance

You may not want to wait but it's less than two weeks, you'd be silly to buy anything right now. However if you're not willing to the 4890s would be fine.

so the 2 4890s would be a lot more powerful?

and say if i was going to wait... when could i actually buy the cards- jan?

also the order is placed...

well ive had a look at the large thread covering them. it all seems to be on hear say and not definite facts.... esp regarding when one can actually buy them.

just to keep my options open. if u were to choose b/w gtx 285 and 2 4890s which one?

Yes 2 4890's will be better than that Saphire card mate, as it is only a 4890 itself, it just has an extra 1GB of RAM.

I would say it is pretty stupid not to hold off buying until the next gen cards hit the shelves, they are a matter of weeks away.. But it is up to you in the end, it's your money!!

yeah it would be the wise thing to do. i just dont want to wait and then find out the prices are ridiculously high. i dont want to spend any more than £250 on graphics.

ill rng ocuk tomorrow and see if i can place the order on pause.. unless theyve built it already heh

also by the looks of things id need more than a 650w psu for the 4890 xfire and end up being more than just £20 dearer

No you don't, people overestimate the power requirements of things.

I'm running 2900 crossfire on a 500w PSU in my other PC (server, yeah I know :rolleyes), 2900s use more power than 4890s.
