I've noticed on a certain auction site that people are selling unneeded Virgin Media Tivo boxes.

Is it possible to replace a V+ HD box with a Tivo box myself or do I officially need to go through Virgin Media?

I know people sell Sky and V+ boxes when they move to an alternate supplier or no longer use the box, just wondered whether it would work before I put too much consideration into it

Completely illegal. With VM you don't own the STB, just lease it.

In any rate, they are tied to the account.
