TNA Director of Production Steve Small tells the Impact Zone they are cast members - Jan 18th '10

That is BS.

Wrestling is about fan participation.

Despite my dislike of WWE, they have never gone to the effort of telling fans before an event what they can/cannot say.

EDIT: Video got pulled.

AFAIK fans get in for free, so while it is all about their participation it also should actually be constructive.

it seems like TNA fans are being forced to cheer for things they don't like. Did you watch Genesis "we want 6 sides" ....why get rid of something unique like that? Being forced to cheer Sean Morely/Val Venis and boo Christopher Daniels a TNA original, did you see the pop daniels got and then he had to act like a heel, the TNA fans in the camera shot even turned their backs after the match. Same with Jarrett having to act like a heel when its his company and Hogan acting like the face and savior.

Its dumb, whats happening now is the fans are being told what they like which is just stupid. There was a post made by some guys who are the regulars at the impact zone and said if things continue going this way at the next live show they are going to storm the ring.

Is it just me but shouldn't the "new talent/Hogans mates" all of come in as heels and mimic the invasion angle about all these old guys trying to steal the spot light from the new guys. So you can have TNA originals vs these guys you would still get all the fans who tuned into to see the nWo, you even split the audience half n half so your not cheering the same person.

Seems pretty low (even for wrestling :p) to tell the fans what to cheer and boo.

Although don't they hand out posters/signs to the audience in the WWE and so effectively it's the same thing just not as extreme

It's no different to the people holding up 'Clap' or 'Laugh' instructions at any show 'recorded in front of a live studio audience', it is just choreography after all.

It is speculated that Hogan may have had a hand in this owing to not wanting to be booed as the TNA fans there dont like him or his friends from the old peoples home, or the changes they are making. They have allready built a disability access ramp to the ring to meet equal opps laws for employing old people ;)

He wants to be cheered but many just dont want to.

To give Vince his credit, I never known him tell fans/cast members to not boo cena when he was getting booed out of arenas, even though he was meant to be a fan favourite.

Vince's fans pay to see the show in the arena, these get in for free

Fair point, but not one I think is valid, sure it is more difficult to tell paying fans what they can do.

Do TNA have an active policy for their "Audience Participation" depending on if they are in the Impact Zone or on the road?

Seems a little contradictory.

What happens when they we have Lockdown on the road in 2 months? It is going to be a mess.

Free has nothing to do with it.

If you are producing a Wrestling show, you rely on audience participation.

If the audience do not like the product, dont tell them "Your getting in for free, shut up and cheer the Orange-a-maniac", no, you change the product.

This is how professional Wrestling has worked for many many years.

Fill the Impact zone with just the park visitors if they want mindless spectators who boo and cheer on cue. Failing that, just go and Kidnap some fans from the nearest WWE event.

That's been done before though, I suppose TNA are trying to mix it up a bit rather than play out the same old tired idea.

I think they could have gotten away with a NWO/Invasion hybrid.

Would have lasted them till Bound For Glory for the pay offs.

it is a tired old idea BUT since we have hogan, nasty boyz, nwo, val venis etc all coming in are they really doing anything new? When Hogan first went to wcw Bischoff turned him heel as a big shocker the biggest face turning into the biggest heel and now in tna aj styles the biggest face turns heel...to quote the ECW fans "same old ****"

To pull this off all these guys that Hogan has brought in:
Hogan
Bischoff
Nasty Boyz
Val Venis
nWo/The Band
Orlando Jordan
Kendrick

need to turn heel and play the whole TNA is pathetic before they came in and have all the original TNA heels turn face and have them struggle for power lead by Jarrett/Foley/Sting. The fan cares about these guys and after an initial pop couldn't care less about these new guys coming in and trying to be the companies biggest faces.

I agree Keyser87, that may have proved to have been the better choice.

I dont know where all this is going, but I still dont see the fans going along with cheering Hogan for much longer.

I think the original plan was for Hogan and his "boys" to go against Jarrett and Foley, the problem is, Jarrett is THE TNA Original, who is going to boo him?

And that segment between Hogan and Jarrett was a farce.

Hogan telling the founder of the company, he had to "prove" himself? Who is going to cheer that?

TNA rarely film on the road though

Jarrett was bought out by Dixie afaik, due to her not agreeing with how he ran the company (basically doing what NWO did to WCW, booking himself to win etc)

You need to know when to boo and when to cheer for someone, often there is nothing wrong with cheering a heel ... except during certain storylines and angles when they need to be bood.
The crowd reaction is part of the show, and having idiotic crowds who don't cheer or boo for the correct things takes away from the show.
