Was just wondering theres a lot of people that use this part of the forum so quickly

1) How old are you?
2) How long have you been playing games for?
3) How often do you spend a week playing?
4) Whats your main reason for it?

Im 22
Been playing games for ages more so when i found the internet and HL:DM for pc :D
probs around 10-12hrs a week bit more on weekends and an hr/two some nights
Escapism, can involve ya self in games more than you can watch a film as you control everything within it :)

1) How old are you? 17
2) How long have you been playing games for? Since I was 4 :D Alex the Kidd was brilliant
3) How often do you spend a week playing? Quite a lot, maybe 15-20 hours on average.
4) Whats your main reason for it? 'Cos it is fun, relatively cheap and a much more social thing than watching a film in a lot of cases :)

1) How old are you? - too old
2) How long have you been playing games for? Since the ZX81
3) How often do you spend a week playing? from nill to too much
4) Whats your main reason for it? - The ZX81 was educational - apparently

1) 22
2) Gaming for good 15 years, first console a master system.
3) Nowdays, I only fit around 3-6 hours when I am at uni, as I have silly amounts of work to do, and the rest of the time I'm out the house doing other stuff.
4) Main reason, it's fun, relaxing for the most part, and some games you can really get into, especially with the right story and atmosphere.

2. December 2002. I didn't used to play games at all untill I got Halo on Xbox.
3. Not often at all. A while ago I used to spend about 3-4 hours a day playing Halo 2 on Xbox live, but now I play about once every 3-4 weeks. So not a lot.
4. Halo 2 is incredibly fun, or it used to be. I can't play it for more than an hour now before I get bored. And no other game compares to Halo 2. So just for fun when I'm bored.

2) About 14 years now, Master System, Genesis, Snes, PS1, N64, 360 + Wii
3) On a busy week, 0 hours. At the moment I can easily fit in 3/4 hours a day.
4) Better than TV, not mind numbing and online games are a great laugh with the right crowd.

1) How old are you?
31

2) How long have you been playing games for?
Since '84... when my sister got a Spectrum 48K for xmas, and I used it more than her.

3) How often do you spend a week playing?
Bit less now... only a few hours per week, cause of work. Used to play a lot more.

4) Whats your main reason for it?
I enjoy it... always have done. Now I've got a family too, my days of drinking to excess are over, and it's something you can do even when my kid is upstairs sleeping.

1) I'm 16 years old
2) Since I was 4 or 5 I think, I had a mega drive and a Game boy. Then N64, PS1, GBC, PS2, GBA, GC, DS, PSP, XBOX 360 and now a Wii.
3) Usually around 15 hours, try to get more time, but school, work and my mates get in the way ! :p
4) Well...it's fun :D, I can actually share this hobby better with my mates, unlike my other hobbies (AV and computers)

Its part of my life and has been a long time.

To the older members and those more settled and living with a partner

Does the other half mind?

As people said its more entertaining than TV but obviously most people will play by them selfs with m8s online and not so much a wife/gf :)

2) Since the age of 4 - Dad brought home a Build it yourself computer in a big orange box...

4) I have no life.

Does the other half mind?

Not really - keeps me out of trouble.

I play mostly at weekends and maybe half an hour to an hour at night, so its not a problem.

She did leave me before though because i used to spend 4-5 hours per night on my pc playing world of warcraft, you learn and adapt from your mistakes though.

1) How old are you? - 35
2) How long have you been playing games for? - since aprox 1981
3) How often do you spend a week playing? - 12 + hours
4) Whats your main reason for it? - it's fun & an escape from reality/normal life

the other half doesn't mind at, she likes to join in occasionally :)

1) How old are you? - 23

2) How long have you been playing games for? - most of my life, first console was an atari 2600

3) How often do you spend a week playing? - on average 10-15 hrs per week, tho that can of course go right down to no time at all and up to many more hours, depending on the circumstances.

4) Whats your main reason for it? - just always have is the best reason I can come up with. I don't play games as much as I used to and rarely finish games now but if i'm at home and there is nothing decent on tv I will most likely be playing games. Usually even if I have company tbh ;)

28.

My dad brought me an Amstrad CPC 464 as a suprise. I forgot exactly how old I was but I was old enough to understand the most basic games pretty much straight away.

I spend a lot of my free time gaming. It varies on what's going on in my life generally, there's no special number of hours I fall into. Some weekends I'll happily play a good RPG through the night and weeknights I'll do short bursts on an RTS or Racing Sim.

I probably don't fully know the reasons why I play games the way I do, and have done to this point. I know they make me feel good, more so when I achieve something from them (like a victory over an opponent, or completing a level). Always been into computers generally and technology. I like to see technology progress and am very interested in our interaction with it mentally. Increases to 3D engines, AI, connected gameplay in technology make it very interesting. I'm a software developer and I've never really had a gap in my life from computers, so computer gaming feels very natural.

Edit - Occasionally my partner fllips out at the number of hours I will spend gaming. This is rare as I can sense such danger approach and disconnect myself from the game in question. But lately, in the case of FFXII, I chose to disregard her complaints as I played solidly wherever free time made it possible. But in the end she cut my fingers off.
