To Huawei or not to Huawei?

I'm looking to upgrade my Moto G5 plus and after a little research I have my eyes set on the Huawei P30. However, with what's going on between the US and China, would this be a risky purchase? I understand that handsets released before the trade embargo last year are still being supported to some extent by Google but will these the latest security and android updates be available?

Are there any other people here in a similar situation, wondering what to do?

I was also looking at the pixel 4 and quite like the look of that although much pricier but the poor battery is putting me off that.

I currently have the Huawei P20 and will be moving away from the brand in May. I can't see it getting better between them and I don't want to lose Google Apps. Aside from this, it's been a great phone.

That's what I'm worried about too. Shame because I really like the look the P30. Just to be nosey, what will you be moving to after your current phone?

Honestly if it was me I wouldn't bother.

If you are looking at the pixel 4, maybe take a look at the OnePlus 7 pro/7T ?

I'll check this out. Cheers

Thanks for everyone's views.

I decided to go with the pixel 4 and received it yesterday. Enjoying it so far. I know the battery isn't the best but I'm not a heavy user and it seems to be lasting well for me based on current usage.

As mentioned above, the uncertainty over Huwaei's future with Google (I know the P30 is supported for now) and the inevitable backlash that I think China is going to receive from the West after the Corona Virus crisis begins to settle, makes it too much of a gamble for me. Shame really.
