To The Gun Enthusiasts In Here.

Id hate to think how much it would cost to get the action/receiver converted from semi to bolt or even if you could find some one willing to do it. Most of the work would have to be done over seas and imported in.

Might be better of asking a gunsmith to do a custom job made to look like one using something like a rem700 action.

I could ask next time I'm in rimfire magic if you like. Shouldn't be too long as i am nearly out of ammo.

Sorry to derail this topic slightly but I have been range and pest control shooting my air rifles for a while now and have been concidering applying for a fac for a .17hmr, I know these can be kept at home but what is the law on high power center fire rifles? Surely they have to be kept at a range?

I never realised Bolt Action Sniper Rifles were possible to own in this country

Does this mean the L96A1 as used by the Troops In Afghanistan is perfectly legal to be owned by a civilian in the UK with the appropriate firearms license ?

You can still keep them at home, even here in northern ireland with it's stricter gun laws. Even an air rifle/shotgun requires an FAC over here.

yes, assuming you can afford one.

what sort of excuse do you use for needing a sniper rifle when you apply for your license ?

Im not sure id consider NI's gun laws stricter as such, just different. After all you can still legally own handguns here.

Pretty much the only 2 reasons for owning a firearm with live ammunition are: a) hunting b) target shooting. No self defense or "because they're cool". :p If it's for target shooting, you'll more than likely need to find a club/range to shoot at.

Neither is the cartridges. About $7 a shot for factory ammunition. I'd rather shoot 200 rounds of 22lr for the same price.

Eh? Are you talking about .50 BMG rounds?

This is what I'd want if there was ever a zombie outbreak in the UK, with a few 20 round drum magazines

Semi-auto 12 bore. I'd put a bayonet on the end too.

I wonder if a belt-fed one would be UK legal?
