To upgrade or not to upgrade?

I am currently using a AMD Phenom II 550 @ 3.6GHz 3 cores enabled, 8GB RAM, SSD and an old Radeon 4830 and I do quite a bit of Flash, Photoshop and Video editing work. I have had this machine for about 2 years now.

I've got about £300 to spend on just a new CPU & Motherboard. I can get an OEM i7 2600K with a Asrock Extreme 3 Gen 3 z68 motherboard new within the given price, is it worth it for what I am doing?

I am not a heavy or even a moderate gamer just planning to play Witcher 2 during December when things are quiet!

Anyway, I do not want to upgrade to another AMD CPU since I will be using my current one as a second machine and do not want to spend any more money on it.

Would appreciate any feedback anyone might have.

I was looking at a Antec Kuhler 920 is it worth going for it or should I stick to good old air cooling?

Furthermore, I have read some reports that the i5 outperforms the i7 in certain games, surely this can't be true can it? Don't know in depth about the the current Intel CPU lineup, its been a while since my last P4 about 4/5 years ago.

If anything, the Antec Kuhler 620 is good. About as good as a decent air cooler I think (similar price) so just personal preference.

I doubt that, i7 should be equal in games (probably won't be better as that's more GPU dependant.
