XFX ATI Radeon HD 5770 Single Slot 1024MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card @ £74.99 inc VAT

GX-185-XF_400.jpg

There’s an ideal graphics card for every gamer, and the XFX ATI Radeon™ HD 5770 single slot graphics card is for the gamer looking for “ility,” as in “utility,” “stability,” and “reliability,” not to mention some excellent overclocking “capability.” A single-slot card variant of the 5700 performance card family, it sports a uniquely designed fansink, with a total heatpipe surface area that is 15% greater than the HD 5770 dual slot channel fansink. This, combined with the open space provided by the single slot environment, ensures maximum airflow to the GPU.

An acoustic comparison of the 5700 family found that the XFX ATI Radeon HD 5770 single slot was up to 23.5 dB lower than the HD 5770 dual slot full cover fansink. Enhanced cooling and reduced noise is helped by fan speed, which is controlled by a PWM circuit on the PCB. Dust levels are kept down to a minimum with IP-5X dust protection standard. For gamers who have been waiting for the ideal single-slot graphics card, the XFX ATI Radeon HD 5770 has been worth the wait. The unique cooling capacity—and reduced noise levels—of this single-slot solution turns up the “ility,” making this a very attractive graphics card indeed.

Great deal on the Vertex 3.

How reliable are the Vertex 3's?

I've read people are having problems with the Agility's and Solid's from OCZ.

Also are the new Intel 510 series reliable?

I know Intel have a good reputation for there SSD reliability. I would happily go for reliability over speed. :)

From our usage the Vertex 3 and Agility 3 drives are great, no reliability issues here.

I cannot comment on the Solid drives, as we have never tested those.

Temptation got the better of me and I have ordered the Vertex 3 120GB. :D

Hope it doesn't let me down. :)

I do fancy that Vertex 3 at that price, but the sandforce issues lately have been putting me off. Can you please explain OcUK's rma procedure please.

I have used OcUK and got my friends and family to use them in the past, but never have I or they needed to rma something. I also use other online retailers. One in particular has great support. They come pick up the item that is broken, test it and send a brand new replacement if it is broken. My last intel ssd broke 3 times in a row and I ended up getting a full refund which at the time was £20 more than they were selling for.

As others are saying Sandforce are acknowledging they are having problems I don't want to risk buying unless I know the support will be very good.

Thanks guys.

My OCZ Solid State Vertex 2 120GB BigFoot 3.5 had died a few months ago as I think it down to HDDErase had killed it off (for best performance) but my 2nd OCZ Vertex 2.5 is fine, maybe it unlucky one. (never drop it or bang it!)

To be honest, I am not sure if I can buy another OCZ again in future. Still waiting for RMA for my Vertex 2 for 5 weeks now and very poor support from OCZ.

5 Weeks!!

Are they trying to recover your data for you or something? When my intel v 40gb broke, it was tested and found faulty and a new one was sent all in around a week.

Yes 5 weeks and still waiting. I don't need data recover as it already backed up in my 2TB external hard disk (USB 2.0)

UPDATED: They had found faulty with my SSD and now shipped replacement after nearly 6 weeks of RMA. It appear 6 weeks is far too long. I might not go for OCZ again in future.
