Uh? The only other recent TR game is Legend. The ones before that (Chronicles & AOD) were not only mediocre, but full of bugs.

Yeah quite right really looking forward to Tomb Raider Underworld, hopefully it will carry on the improvements we have seen in Legend and anniversary

I think the detail in Legends is better, in Anniversary skin texture seems a bit bland. I believe "next generation textures" is missing from Anniversary, although it does slow down on certain areas (end boss)

I honestly thought it was the best Tomb Raider since TR2, and a great remake of the original (except for the T-Rex bit). Legend was alright but it was a pretty normal average modern game.

Stuck on the "great pyramid" level, you have to ascend a large room with lava at the bottom, with timed platforms, and swinging poles. Impossible. Any cheats to disable the timers?

The only hard part of that mission is the flying demon things. The timed part should be fairly easy by the time you've got to that point. The fire room in palace midas is harder imho.
